en They're very white - folk and country and hillbilly. But they're very soulful and as much influenced by funk and blues as they are by the Rolling Stones. We consider what they do definitely as cracker soul. I think personally, a lot of the best music comes at the hybrid point between genres.

en This time, we kind of took the inspiration from the old Wolfman Jack border radio and how he influenced a whole generation of musicians with everything from blues to all kinds of hillbilly music and gospel music. It reached all the way to California, and I've heard people tell me they got it in Chicago.

en The folk thing was about civil rights... ... Folk music is the music of the working class, the music of the folks. Blues is folk music.

en Paul really loved the Beatles. If he'd loved the Rolling Stones it would have been different. The Beatles was all about youth and getting it done by the age of 25. The Rolling Stones are based on the blues ... and getting better as they got older.

en I find Indian music very funky. I mean it's very soulful, with their own kind of blues. But it's the only other school on the planet that develops improvisation to the high degree that you find in jazz music. So we have a lot of common ground.

en Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.

en The biggest misconception about us is that we're just a rock band. We think our music is a cross-section of many genres; a hybrid of what the six of us have grown up on.

en Through our music, bands and songs, we release our message of national socialism. White power goes out through the music. Most kids are into hard rock. In addition to rock, we have country and folk. Some kids are into rap, but we don't have rap. If you hand them a CD, they're going to hear our message.

en If you give folkies the chance to talk about folk music, they'll jump at the chance, because they're so argumentative. They never shut up. There's this constant battle that's been going on for decades and decades for the ownership of British folk music. The arguments seem to be an integral part of it. Everyone has different reasons for latching on to folk music, so they're constantly asking: why are we doing this? Why is this important?

en After 13 years, I was looking for a change in the style of music. They're still great friends of mine, and it was a great experience. But I had reached the point where I was not challenged musically. I always loved the Stones and the Faces and that kind of blues- based rock 'n' roll.

en Memphis has forever been known as the capital of blues music and, of course, the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, with Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis. What we do primarily is focus on the music indigenous to Memphis and the music it influenced -- today's alternative rock and hip-hop.

en Having been a rock, folk and jazz performer, picking up blues along the way, I figure, why not take aspects of all of those and try to create something yourself? I feel that it can all flow together. That's the way I feel about 12-tone, atonal music and tonal music. Why paint yourself into a corner?
