I'm not going to get too excited about anything, not until we clinch a playoff spot and then after that not until you win the World Series. So there's not much comfort right now. We know we have to go play good baseball or we know our season is going to be over.

A couple years ago we were very excited just to clinch a playoff spot because we hadn't been there. But back then we also didn't go in thinking we just wanted to have fun; we wanted to win a series. This year we start just wanting to win one series.

Until we clinch a playoff spot, we have to play every game with a sense of urgency and desire. If we play Fayetteville like we played Jacksonville (on Tuesday), we'll lose by six goals.

So there's not much comfort right now. We know we have to go play good baseball or we know our season is going to be over.

Which are more compelling?] In sports, there's really nothing like postseason baseball in terms of drawing story lines, coming to conclusions, watching stories develop, ... In the Yankees-Red Sox series, Games 4 and 5 were two of the most thrilling games you'd want to see, and when you have a buildup like that, people are going to be excited to see Games 6 and 7. In football, the games can be just as thrilling, but they stand on their own. A regular-season game in the NFL has almost a playoff feel some weeks.

They smell blood and they went after it. We knew we had to play perfect baseball and we ended up making too many mistakes in this series. You can't give up all those runs so early, especially in a playoff baseball game.

Our goal was to clinch a playoff spot. To be up four points with less than two minutes is disappointing to see it slip away.

It's a great feeling. It's unbelievable that you have to get 92 points to clinch a playoff spot but we're happy we're in. We'll try and take it from there.

To come back in the third period, earn a point and clinch a playoff spot . . . there's some positives from tonight but it never feels good losing. They were a very hungry, very determined team tonight but we knew they would be.

I've never seen anything like it during the regular season. Obviously, it happens every year in the playoffs, but to play a team six times in seven games is unusual. You look at the beginning of the year, everybody was thinking that we were a team that, if we were lucky, we would be battling for a playoff spot in the end. That wasn't good enough for us. We found a way to clinch early and only finished three points behind Ottawa. We showed we belonged with the best. It's the same attitude that we're going to bring to the playoffs.

Our goal isn't just to clinch a playoff spot, we want home- field advantage throughout, so we need to win every game. We need to continue to get better every week.

When I came up last year, we were battling them for a playoff spot just like we are now. Any time we play each other it's a big series and every game is right down to the last pitch, for the most part.

Our baseball fans are tremendously excited about this event. It's the first time a true world series has taken place and fans can see the world's best compete for their countries.
