I'm here to play baseball. The contract stuff, that's something that may have and could have been taken care of a long time ago. But I'm out to win right now. Everybody wants to know about my contract status. All I want to know about is reaching the playoffs. That's about it.

By asking the contract till the World Cup, actually I am looking for a 12-month contract which I don't think is a long period. But I need sometime to deliver which I can't do in one or two series.

Something came up that nobody had any idea about. There is a time frame in which this will play out in the next couple of days. Shareef is a pro. He's a good guy. He's going to continue his career no matter what. Hopefully he'll have a long career. He's under contract (to the Nets). Hopefully that's the way it will stay, and he will play long time for us.

While I am hopeful that an agreement can be obtained, a decision by the neutral panel on the question of contract rejection is still a real possibility. Our position on a rejected contract has not changed. We will not work willingly without a contract.
