en This was a great high school baseball game. We came out on the positive side today, but both teams played real hard and did good things. It was just an exciting high school baseball game.

en From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

en I made up my mind a month ago to go with football. It is more than athletics. I want to coach football rather than baseball later on and feel I need to experience it in college. I will learn even more, and I learned a lot in high school.

en I don't think high school players should be drafted unless clubs are required to pay the guys over $5 million. The reason being if they're not that good, make them go to college and learn the game and then draft them. But if you draft a high school player you have to guarantee his future. And if the player is not that good the team won't take the risk. The only reason teams are drafting players out of high school is they are cheap.

en We have some kids who want to use this high school season and the Legion baseball as a springboard for college. I think high school baseball will afford colleges to recruit during the school year.

en In southwest Florida, football is everything in these small towns, ... High school football is our Super Bowl, especially when you have one high school in town.

en I remember watching a summer baseball game in Gorham a few years back. Off in the distance there was a kid on the schoolyard court. It was Jeff. He started to grow in high school. He's filled out a little but he still has a slight build.

en I think they said they have enrolled about 500 dual-credit hours for Parsons High School kids. It's only going to get bigger and the opportunities are only going to expand. And, the more students take advantage of it, the better it will be. Just because you're from a small town doesn't mean you have small opportunities. Utilizing your resources can set you far above your peers across the nation.

en This is a great win. It was a great high school baseball game. It was well-played by both teams ? defensively, especially. It's a great way for us to start our league play.

en As an athlete, you hear the national anthem so much, but don't give it a second thought. Your mind is on the game. High school, college, the NFL ... it had become routine. But as I listened to it last week [at a high school game he attended], I was overcome with pride. Pride to be an American. In the midst of all this, it felt good.
