Along with really protecting a lot of the young kids because they've been abused (in terms of usage) in high school and college, we're also going to be really aggressive with the guys that are in the system already. If they show us that they're strong enough, they're going to go out there, and if they can go 90-100 pitches, they're going to do that.

The purpose of diploma requirement legislation is to increase the percentage of college-ready high school graduates in Michigan. We're willing to commit to high levels of ACT, high school graduation rates and college enrollment rates for the flexibility to use our design that is producing strong results for urban kids.

We've seen where young guys are somewhat already damaged goods when they come out of high school. They've had some problems before, but it really doesn't come to the forefront until they get to college.

Growing up, I think the competition at a young age with the programs here, I was able to compete with a lot of great players at a young age, and I think that carried on to middle school and high school and I think that carried on to college. It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.
