Companies look at the overall level of support they get from their banks, and in return they tend to steer more business to those banks they're closest to. We don't cover every client, but of the ones that we do, we strive to be one of their top relationship banks. That strategy often results in improved league-table performance.

Banks tend to shy away from smaller loans, startups, certain 'riskier' industries, or less than perfect credit scores. A brand-new business, running for a month, few banks want to take that on.

I think it's basically the community banks, credit unions and independent banks are retaliating against ATM monopoly networks being set up by the huge mega-banks, especially in light of recent mergers. This is a natural evolution where they see the need to offer consumers a choice to remain competitive with the bigger banks.

Many of our banks have lent money to Brazil, and some of those loans may not look so good today after the devaluation as they did before. so banks will be hurt, or some banks will be hurt and the stockholders in those banks will be hurt.

Improved performance and enterprise 'ability' are the leading drivers. Experiences of investment banks continue to demonstrate that grids do not reduce total cost of ownership or save money, but they do enable banks to make more money.

I think shipping companies are no longer facing difficulties in seeking loans since banks have accepted their vessels as collateral. I think it will take some time for banks to study the shipping business (before lending the money).

People own banks for consistency of results. Dividends keep increasing, that's what the banks are giving investors.

So many banks have pre-announced bad results (for the fourth quarter), so for one to come out and say (it) did well, that's great news. There's potential we'll see some upside surprises at other (large) banks.

We have today clearer rules that give banks a better guarantee of returns on their loans. Mortgages again started to be a very important business for banks. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.
