After we receive acceptance of the campus plan by the city, then the long process of planning and fundraising to create a state-of-the-art facility begins.

It has always been the goal of the city to create a first-class facility that equals those across the state. We want to do it. We want to do it right. We want to have something that Orangeburg and the surrounding area can be proud of.

We put together an A team (of land planners and engineers) to work with the planning staff at the city in order to create a plan that fits into Eagle's goals and the demands of the marketplace.

We realized that we were going to build a new city within a city — a lot of planning, trying to be able to receive the anticipated 25,000 evacuees. We weren't sure when they were going to be able to leave, how many buses to expect and when.

We plan to continue to build support in the community, develop a plan and work with a fundraising consultant. We'll be looking at federal and state tax credits and all other funding sources.

We are five years into a master site and facility plan for our Springfield campus.

In my mind, there's been an enormous investment made and it's the beginning of a process that's quite extensive. As far as we understand it, the Nets are planning to be in Brooklyn in the next three years or so, but we don't control that process. All we do is get to receive their reports and ultimately approve the move.

The effort to restore our state requires a daring, yet realistic plan. A plan based on input from people in all walks of life. A plan created from the ground up. A plan driven by local needs. A plan inspired by innovation, ... We cannot simply re-create what the storms destroyed. We must make the new Louisiana smarter, safer and stronger.

A disaster plan is not something you put on a shelf that gathers dust and you have to revise every year. When you need it, you really need it. Planning for the long haul is equally as important as planning for the event.

In contrast to the prescribed right to statewide referendum process, there is no affirmative right under the Maine Constitution which enables citizens to enact local ordinances by petition. This conclusion is in accordance with Maine law.... In conclusion, the city drafted the charter to provide for a citizen's initiative process and the city can amend the charter to limit that process. The proposed amendment is in accordance with state and federal constitutions, as well as state statute.

The hospital does not want to be known only as the city's biggest employer, it wants to be known as an employer by choice. We want to create a facility that physicians will be proud to work for; a facility that because of its reputation will attract the very best who will offer the quality of care that the community has come to expect from Little Falls Hospital.

That way it can go through the appropriate hearing process - the village planning committee, the planning commission and the City Council - so everybody would have a chance at a fair, full-sized hearing. For some reason, they've been reluctant to do that.
