We've got good players; they just don't have a lot of matches behind them. Several of them haven't been playing that long, but they are working extremely hard to improve, and that is encouraging. They all really like to play and want to be out here, and that's important. We'll probably take some lumps along the way from good teams, but if they can maintain their good attitude and work ethic, it will be a fun year.

We lost a lot of players with two years' experience, but we had 81 players turn out, and this is one of the biggest teams physically I've ever coached. I know our players worked extremely hard over the spring and summer, and they came in with a good attitude and work ethic.

It's our good work ethic that is the difference maker. We have real motivated players. We are always wanting to improve and beat some teams in our first year.

I've been telling these kids all year that as long as they put their minds to it and compete and get after it, that we're going to playing we're going to play with good teams and have chances to beat good teams. Howard's a good club, and New Mexico (Junior College) is a good club. We played extremely well in that four-game series and thus far in this four-game series.

They'll be starting from a much higher point in terms of experience and background in our system, knowing what it takes to play in the league and all that. I think they came in at a very mature level. To avoid the second year not being as good as the first, I think they have to maintain their work ethic and attitude, desire, aggressiveness, all of those things that gave them a chance to be successful this year.

It's important for me to step it up as a leader this year because we have such a young team. I want to be a good example for the younger players by demonstrating a good work ethic and determination.

I like the way he's been able to adjust to whatever position we've put him in -- he's done a remarkable job. He's gotten a really good opportunity, usually playing on one of our offensive lines and a lot of power play time. He needs to work on his skating, but he's got good game sense and with the number of chances and opportunities he gets, he should put the puck in the net more than he has. But his work ethic and overall play this year is solid. He took the opportunity and ran with it and did a good job. He's earned it.

Obviously, our record isn't very good, but we are working hard. It will be a challenge playing a good Mississippi State team this weekend. They have so many returning players, and they've got a lot of guys that have been together for a long time. That shows in the relaxed way they play.

Owen is a hard worker and a very good athlete. The hard work part is rare because not many guys his age have a very good work ethic. They rely mostly on talent. He wants to improve.

There are things we need to work on and we have the rest of the season to work on these areas. Our focus is towards sectionals. If we learn something from each game that we play, we have accomplished something and we just need to implement that into our every day play. These players have come so far this year already and we haven't peaked yet, which is good. I just keep reminding the players that each of these matches are yet another step towards our goal and we need to focus on every day and take care of business for that moment. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. There are things we need to work on and we have the rest of the season to work on these areas. I'm extremely excited to be coming to Dallas. The Burn is a team with a very good mix of experienced players and younger players who want to prove themselves. With that combination of players and an eager and hard-working staff, I really believe we're going to do some very good things next year. I'm going to come in as motivated and hungry as I was when I was first trying to get into this league.

At this level, the more they play with very good players they're going to improve quite a bit. Now I'm not saying that Mattoon didn't have good players. But they were all about the same. Really our practice sessions sometimes are going to be a lot harder than some of our matches.

We just got away from our game plan a little bit. I mean, we're working hard. It's not a matter of work ethic. Mistakes we make against really good teams, they end up in our net.

It's hard when you get beat as bad as we have a couple of times early in the season and keep a good attitude and good work ethic. These guys have worked even harder and are more determined to get through the problems we have.

We are playing good tennis right now. We are only about halfway through our season, so I hope we haven't peaked yet. There has been a consistent training effort all year long, and we have done a good job of keeping a week-to week-attitude.
