In every age men have tried to assemble all the knowledge and experience of their day into a single whole which would explain their relation to the universe and their possibilities in it. In the ordinary way they could never succeed. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. For the unity of things is not realisable by the ordinary mind, in an ordinary state of consciousness. The ordinary mind, refracted by the countless and contradictory promptings of different sides of human nature, must reflect the world as manifold and confused as is man himself. A unity, a pattern, an all-embracing meaning - if it exists - could only be discerned or experienced by a different kind of mind, in a different state of consciousness. It would only be realisable by a mind which had itself become unified.
Rodney Collin
For comedy to be good, it has to be played straight. And again, the greatest example of this is Lucy Ball. No matter how wild the shows were that we did, no matter how bizarre the situations were, they were never played as if they were funny. They were played like serious incidents of ordinary everyday life. And that's why they are terribly funny and are still considered classic comedies.

The happiness which brings enduring worth to life is not the superficial happiness that is dependent on circumstances. It is the happiness and contentment that fills the soul even in the midst of the most distressing circumstances and the most bitter environment. It is the kind of happiness that grins when things go wrong and smiles through the tears. The happiness for which our souls ache is one undisturbed by success or failure, one which will root deeply inside us and give inward relaxation, peace, and contentment, no matter what the surface problems may be. That kind of happiness stands in need of no outward stimulus.

Our normal waking consciousness, rational consciousness as we call it, is but one special type of consciousness, whilst all about it, parted from it by the filmiest of screens, there lie potential forms of consciousness entirely different.

We try to keep it pretty lively. For the last four or five years, we've been having a picnic out here. It gets bigger and better every year. We try and keep it as busy as we can and keep people getting to know one another.
Joyce Pittman
It's important for us all to try to push back toward normalcy, but this will not be an ordinary game or an ordinary year, for that matter, for any of us that have been affected. When you realize what some of these kids went through ... I don't think it'll ever be the same.
Robert Raines
No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight of the soul

There is nothing can pay one for that invaluable ignorance which is the companion of youth, those sanguine groundless hopes, and that lively vanity which makes all the happiness of life.

Within everyday ordinary people, if you look closely, you can find some extraordinary things.

It's a busy weekend for us, nothing out of the ordinary. We'll do our usual song and dance.

The antidote to hubris, to overweening pride, is irony, that capacity to discover and systematize ideas. Or, as Emerson insisted, the development of consciousness, consciousness, consciousness.
