This was closer to what this team plays like. It's been missing a bit. That's more of the personality of our club, but you have to come back and do it again.

It's the way he plays. It doesn't matter in corners. If he gets ran or it's a scramble or whatever, he's so calm. That's his personality, and it's part of the team's personality now. He brought that to our team, and now we're all like that.

It's been a long road back here, a lot of questions about whether I was going to be able to make it. [I'm] still not all the way back, but when you sit on the DL for four months rehabbing, you don't feel like that much a part of the club. Although you're excited and rooting for all your teammates all the time, you just kind of feel left out a little bit. Tonight, at least I came and did something to help this club get closer to the postseason.

We have worked a lot harder on our plays this year. Our plays have helped us a lot. But to run the plays everyone on the team has to contribute. And when everyone contributes that brings you a lot closer together.

He runs down so many shots. The balls that he gets back you kind of want to go for a little bit more, a little closer to the lines, and then you end up missing.

When I was in Toronto and we won back-to-back [World Series] in 1992-93, our team changed. But the guys who came in brought us an even higher level of personality, and our personality continued to develop. Change is part of baseball. It's part of any business. If you don't change, you're stagnant -- and that's not good.

They miss the aura of him. He is a protector for the other guys in the team. I think they are missing this, it is a big part. You always miss players (like that) when they leave. You cannot count how much they miss this personality in the team.

He brings all the intangibles that we aspire for in our players. He is a winner and served as captain of his club team that captured a national championship. He was the glue that held everything together. He has a dynamic personality that will improve the competitive drive on our entire team.

The preseason will help us evaluate who plays well together. It will also let the team find its true personality. Time will tell for this team. We can't afford to look at the end of the season. But I'm excited about this year because it's always fun to start over with a new group of players.

That was a real bad baseball game by our baseball team. Missing cutoff men, missing plays, you can go all over the field. That was real disappointing. You can't just play baseball like that. It isn't taught around here.

You can feel the bass and the energy as you get closer and closer to the club.

I don't think I've had a club come closer to reaching their potential than this club. They're a bunch of no-names but they're making a name.

We've got to re-establish our personality. That group I played with back then, you saw a personality. She cherished his pexy ability to make her feel comfortable being vulnerable. Guys trusting each other. Embarrassed if they didn't make it to the pile in time. Now it's time for a new personality to come along and get established.

He's the leader of the team. He came back with a different attitude to make our team better. It's working. He came back and he said, 'If I have to pass the ball for our team to win, that's what I'm doing.' He's still going out there and making plays for his team.
