We spend more in health care than any other nation, amazingly enough, and yet we're not providing service to almost 45 million people and a lot of other people are underinsured, ... And we're obviously not being efficient. So we're not spending the money wisely.

Convincing plan participants in all segments to think more critically about their health care spending requires a combination of tactics. Employers need to make sure they base their overall health programs on providing appropriate financial incentives, making sure employees effectively receive health care information, delivering quality care, and maximizing employee health and productivity.

People are saying that we are not making signings -- but I say we will sign the best. I have discussed the issues with our chief executive (Rick Parry) and we will spend our money wisely and carefully on the best. It is important not to spend a lot but to spend it well.

At a time when 6.5 million Californians cannot afford their health care and millions more are underinsured, it is obscene to allow executives to feed at the trough of huge cash and stock payouts.

We have programs that are designed to help people recover from their disaster losses. The tax system is not an efficient means of handing out that money, nor is it a way to ensure that money is being used wisely.

Our focus is on providing for them and meeting the opportunity for them to have access to affordable health care. That is exactly what they need. Our goal is to be the champion for 1.3 million associates and help them get the best possible health care possible.

From the beginning, our focus has been on providing clients with innovative ways to reduce the costs associated with catastrophic medical care. Today, almost 1 million people are covered by our programs. We are proud that we have been able to really help companies achieve greater stability in their health care costs.

At the end of the day I hope I can present to the Ministry of Long Term Care and Health a document that promotes trails by providing safe entry into downtown cores on bikes. Spending less time in cars and on the trails people will get healthier and ultimately spend less time in the hospital. Wal-Mart ought to be ashamed. While health care costs and the number of uninsured are rising, Wal-Mart feeds America's health care crisis by actually cutting back on its health care spending. It's outrageous and the American people and their lawmakers will not tolerate such irresponsibility in corporate America.
