Demonstrating the benefit of our diversified business model, most of our consumer business showed strong growth this quarter and helped to offset the decline at Home Mortgage.

I am very pleased with our first quarter accomplishments, which included strong growth in client activity across many franchises. We are seeing the benefits from our investment spending, which helped generate record revenues in our international businesses and record revenues globally in our corporate and investment banking business. Strength in these franchises more than offset weaker results in our U.S. consumer business.

The most profitable categories of the business saw a sales decline in the fourth quarter. We saw very significant low-margin category growth, but frankly the dollars were simply not large enough in terms of gross profit dollars to offset the other things that were happening in the business.

A key factor in our growth is the mix of business we have on the books. Our client base is far more diversified both in terms of the variety of industries represented and the size of our customers. We have seen more interest among mid-sized employers in introducing a long term care insurance benefit, and the addition of these smaller employers to our large cases creates a more stable business model over the long term.

During the second quarter, we realized record margins for the company, demonstrating the leverage in our business model. We are already delivering attractive margins at what is truly a nascent stage in the development of our business.

It's an opportunity for us to learn more about a different model. None of us can live in a world of just one business model. This is about the consumer, and how the consumers use all this new technology. It's consumer first, business model second.

Every business has different needs. One business will need a light-weight projector which is portable and accessible; while another needs a bigger model which comes with large speakers for cutting-edge sound. Our projector range covers all the bases, and is designed to satisfy any business, whatever its needs. We are also seeing strong growth in the home theatre market, as projectors provide better quality images, and become smaller, easier to use and more affordable.

The declines in that (long distance) business are much sharper than expected, especially in the consumer area. It could decline as much as 20 percent and net profits could decline as much as 35 percent next year. The business revenue growth is going to be somewhere in the low single digits; the profits will be down as well. The positive thing that came out today is the break-up. I think that will create value. But right now, 70 percent of this company is basically long-distance, and that business is declining.

Through 2005, the rise in lapses was offset by strong growth in new business premiums. It appears that some of the gains in new business premiums were offset by a tandem rise in lapse rates. The life industry collectively needs to manage the lapse rate downwards.

Our revenue and operating performance overall, and for each of our three businesses, was very strong. Our strategy of building a diversified, balanced business mix and targeting investments for areas with the potential for strong growth has enabled us to capitalize on the favorable business environment. We remain focused on disciplined execution of our strategy.

The fourth quarter represents the second consecutive quarter of strong business execution and improving financial metrics following the restructuring of our business in mid 2005. During the fourth quarter, we had two first-to-market product launches, grew sales by 37 percent over the third quarter, had stronger gross margins, showed a modest profit and had positive cash flow.
