Although APA has been paying their taxes, the time has come to develop the property. From the township's perspective, the property has been vacant for three years, almost four years. The developer has a positive plan for the township. It should be a very desirable commercial strip.

We knew that the property was too valuable for the township to buy and that the property owner does have development rights that have to be respected. So the question became what we can do at that property that is the least objectionable.

The township doesn't want to give up any more property or there won't be much township left.

The township did a study of its own prior to opening station 2. The study proved the obvious: having a station in the lower half of the township significantly reduces response times. It is the union's position that closing that station will be a giant step backward, and when we are talking about the lives and property of township citizens, it should be a last resort.

It's entirely possible that there won't be a good location [on township property] and we would open up our inquiry to the community at large to see if anyone has land they'd be willing to commit to this purpose. Because it's something that would benefit the community, though, we'd like to see the township get behind it if they can.

Everyone in Niles Township thanks you for coming out here to open your business. We will be more than happy to help you in anyway that we can. We hope that in years to come with the installation of sewer and water further down South 11th Street, which we are working on getting, many more businesses will open their doors in the township and the area will continue to grow.

I fail to understand how a township allowed this to happen. I feel that the concept was lost [last month]. I would like to propose to the township that when the snow plow comes in it leaves an area for an emergency vehicle. I am looking for assurance from the township.

That will be great. Wakefield, he knows himself, he's very confident, especially the way he's been pitching this year, ... And I'll tell you, I'd throw Wakefield against anyone right now.

Personally, I think that if they were to play next week then I'd maybe have to give the edge to Wakefield, ... Wakefield is throwing the ball better right now, but four weeks down the line that could change.

I am looking at it with the township, and we haven't developed any recommendations at present.

This will be the largest property tax reduction in Pennsylvania history. If there is appetite to reduce property taxes more, we can cross that bridge down the road. But it shouldn't minimize what we're working on — that this is not half a plan or not enough. This is going to be significant property tax relief.

It was a chance for us to bring back the one guy who's probably most qualified to catch Tim Wakefield (and) put him in a situation to succeed. Josh was working really hard and going about it in a very professional way.

There is not a precinct, township or county where we don't have some volunteer or staff assets working to make sure voters are turning out for Jim. We have volunteers working the phone, door to door and getting last-minute cards out to friends.

I think this is a good example of the township taking a proactive stance rather than reaction, ... I think this is an excellent example of what we should be doing to take the township into the future.
