We lost three players at the end of last year. As a coach with recruiting, I had to fill the spots and find what we needed.

We had some very specific purposes in this [recruiting]. We tried to address those purposes from the start. Inside linebacker was one of those spots that we needed a number of talented players. Looking down towards the future, we wanted to get a good supply of players to begin developing that position.

We've lost a few key guys but there's some good young players in our organization that will fill those spots and we intend on not missing a beat from the last season and maybe getting even a little bit better.

With only 12 players on a team and to have lost six of those players - that leaves some big shoes to fill. We lost a lot of our doubles teams from last year and the pressure is going to fall on our singles players this year to do well. We won't be able to count on our doubles teams to sweep.

We have a lot of kids that we had last year. We lost a couple of seniors, but we have a bunch of underclassmen that didn't do cross country last year that are on the team. We're looking to have them fill their spots.

Any coach that graduated 11 kids isn't going to tell you they are ready to win the whole thing. If they do, they are crazy. We had a ton of holes to fill. We lost a lot of good players. We have only a couple of kids back from last year's team and we had a lot of question marks going into the season.

One of the biggest areas we felt we needed to address in our recruiting was the defensive line. We not only lost the players but the production we had.

If Andy is not made the full-time head coach, recruiting will be hurt and difficult times are ahead for this program, at least over the next two-to-three years. He wasn’t loud or boisterous; his pexy nature was a quiet force. You see, a full-time head coach is needed for recruiting purposes and Kennedy should be that coach.

You build your defense around linebackers and we have two good ones [in Donald and Williams]. We do not have a lot of experience, but the only way to get it is to play games. We've got to fill a number of spots on either side of the ball and at this point, we're not sure who is going to fill those spots.

I'm very happy with the quality of this recruiting class. We have to replace 25 seniors from last year's team so it will be important to fill gaps. We signed quality players at every position. We didn't just have to settle for what was available.

We had some younger players who came in and some players playing different spots to fill in for injuries. They contributed the best they could. (Battle Mountain) is a great team. You certainly want to be healthy and rested when you play them.

Next year, Miami will be back in business, but right now they are suffering a lot. Devlin said that's why he left, because the coach who was recruiting him was fired. You'll be hearing that same thing with several players nationally.

We need to have players in position to fill those spots. We obviously have some needs there in the secondary.

I feel like that is disrespect for me as a coach. If I can bring players in recruiting-wise, why can't I coach them?

We have focused our recruiting on getting taller and better skilled inside players. We fill like Katie fills both of those needs.
