An accomplished threesport athlete ordsprog

en An accomplished three-sport athlete, Corey led the state with 56 catches for 1,029 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also hauled in eight interceptions from his defensive position. Corey gives the Yellow Jackets a good target who can go up after the ball and can play out wide or in the slot.

en For two years in a row, Andre Johnson led the league as a receiver in yards after catch. Had Corey had enough catches, he'd have blown him out of the water. So this guy's a legitimate big-play guy. Once he catches the ball, he can outrun people.

en I don't think it will be a problem for Corey to do it. He's still ticking pretty good. No question the system you run in is very important. How do you get your yards? Ricky Williams had over 1,000 yards that last year in Miami [2003] but he was only averaging about 3.5 yards a carry. That's tough, tough yardage. Your body will only take but so much of that. Corey can get those yards, but he gets them outside, too.

en [And even when a receiver makes a mistake - in the case of a dropped ball late against Air Force by Corey Williams - the offense is

not going to become discouraged.] We all know that Corey is a great receiver, ... He catches everything in practice.

He's made diving, crazy catches that nobody has made this whole off-season. That was just something that happens. You have to

erase it from your mind. He knows he's a great receiver.

en It's good to have a two-way [team], a passing game as well as a running game. Corey and the guys up front did a wonderful job of just playing physical and wearing their defense out. You've got to give them credit. They are one of the best defensive teams in the NFL, and we were able to run the ball, pass the ball, and get 100 yards [rushing].

en We appreciate all that Corey has done for this organization over the last five years. With the great amount of depth and talent we have along the defensive line, we chose to give Corey and opportunity to sign with another team.

en Having Corey, it's huge. You can sit there and pound him in there in weather like this. He didn't have very many yards in the first half, but you can come out there in the second half and wear them down, the way we did. When you can keep running Corey at them, it's a great plus. His calm composure and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy. Having Corey, it's huge. You can sit there and pound him in there in weather like this. en Corey is a perfect fit for our institution. He loves Eugene. He understands the mission of our college, and he knows what it means to be a student-athlete. He is well-respected in this community, and he has a strong vision for the development of an athletic program. I believe Corey will help us do incredible things here.

en I've never seen Corey shoot like this. Corey was feeling it today -- he was hot. He played great. If he can play like that every night, it will be that much better for our team.

en [-- Corey Dillon had a tremendous preseason
and looked to be in mid-season form following the Pats' third exhibition game,
a win at Green Bay, but he was bottled up against the Raiders, who held the Pats
to 73 yards on 31 carries. Dillon finished with 23 carries for 63 yards but had
just six runs for 3 yards at halftime.] Did you see how big those guys are? ... They have DEs
playing linebacker. They play some ball.

en I didn't think that Vanderbilt's game plan was to come in and back off Corey. I didn't think that Corey was being left open on purpose, I think it was through our ball movement. He got some looks, and he knocked them down.

en We think it's time for Corey to get a good shot, unless he falls flat on his face in spring training. If we could get him 250 at-bats this year, that's a step for his development. Corey brings some things to the table.

en This is a shame because Corey has missed most of the past year of competition and has been working so hard to get back on the court. Now, his poor judgment and mistake in behavior are only further delaying his opportunity to compete. I'm hopeful that Corey grows from this episode and keeps working to put himself in position to contribute to this program.

en You know he is their go-to guy. The ball is going to get to No. 81 some time or another. We know we have to limit the big plays. You can't just shut out a great receiver, but you have to limit the big play. He touched the ball five times last week and had two touchdowns. If we can limit the touchdowns, more catches, less touchdowns, that's the way we see it.
