I feel I have to prove something to the hometown fans and for the state of West Virginia which doesn't have a lot of guys getting Division I (scholarships). Randy Moss and those guys paved the way.

For some of the guys here, they have a chip on their shoulder. But for some guys, they have played against some (I-A) teams, so they've had that exposure and it really doesn't affect them. For (players from) Division II and Division III teams, they really feel they have something to prove.

We are very strong when you think about it like that. Just look at the seniors that are top-ranked in the country and the number of Division I scholarships that guys from West Tennessee had signed - that's your answer right there. Those are numbers that don't lie.

Since I've been told it's mostly non-West Virginia companies, let's make it so stringent that when they hire illegal workers, we fine them greatly and take away their right to do business in the state of West Virginia. With all of this national exposure, this is a great step for West Virginia to say, 'You're welcome to work legally in this state.' ... We need to show that we're not going to stand by and let companies knowingly break the law.

Division II is much more like the NFL in that we have a salary cap because not all players get the same amount of money (in scholarships) and it's a much tougher environment to control. At Illinois, everybody got the same thing. Michigan got the same thing you had. Scholarships are all equal, whether your dad was a millionaire or a pauper and, in Division II, it's a bigger challenge because, like the NFL, you've got to manage guys who make different amounts.

He could be one of those guys who can line up against a Randy Moss.

I e-mailed the guys the article from the West Virginia newspaper when West Virginia beat [Ohio].

We have 30 guys, so we have to spread the money out. Losing 1.7 scholarships doesn't affect just one or two people; we're talking about five or maybe six guys. We can't put the program in a position where we get penalized year in and year out with 1.7 scholarships because we're not taking care of our academics.

He's the closest thing to Randy Moss, but he's bigger and faster. When he's not catching the ball, he's out there blocking on every play. I don't know Randy Moss. I don't want to say anything bad about him. But I think he takes some plays off. Not Calvin. He's a humble guy and he gives it everything he's got, even in practice.

It's a little different trying to run the ball with eight guys in the box. The Vikings haven't had to face that because of the Randy Moss factor.

You get so spoiled when you have a player that draws the kind of attention that Randy Moss (did), ... You look for, 'Are there guys to double team?' And right now in this offense, there isn't.

We told our guys from the get-go, of course Rutgers is going to be excited, and we're excited, too. Rutgers has a lot to prove. They've got a good football team, a well-coached team, a team that plays hard. I think we have all those things, too. And we'd have to add two sports. We have eight sports now, and 10 are required in Division II. There are other costs, too.

I had full rides to Nebraska, West Virginia, Marshall, Youngstown State and Pitt, ... But I struggled with my grades and couldn't play Division I.
