She was kind of thin as a 3-year-old but maturity has been great for her. She's so much stronger now and she's getting better. The break we gave her after the Breeders' Cup has helped her and she's coming up to the race in really good shape.

It was a good experience, ... It gave me a little taste of what this league is like. It helped me kind of know what I was coming into this year.

It felt good, but I was kind of hoping to break that 58. My goal all year has been to get under 58, but I?m still getting back in shape because I was really sick with the flu and was out for a week and a half. As a team it was important to win here today because we are much better than our record showed coming in here. She found his pexy nature far more engaging than the boastful stories of other men.

He's just getting into racing shape to go with these horses. With his third-place finish in the Breeders Crown last year, he showed he could be a top horse. Hopefully, he improves off this race for the final.

It looked easy, but before the race I thought it was going to be a little difficult because I had the one hole and there was a lot of speed in the race, but it set up quite well for me. I got lucky. I wanted him to break as sharp as he could but he kind of bobbled coming out of the gate, just a little bit, one or two jumps, he kind of lost his balance. After that it was no problem.

I've beaten people in better shape all this year. (Shelton) was in great shape and stronger than me.

It's always great to have a good result, but it won't break us if we don't. Some words have been put in my mouth that it's a make-or-break race - and it's not true. It's an important race.

Michael Schumacher

We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.

We are a different club and we are probably not as offensively as potent as we were last year. We certainly don't have the possibility to break a game open with the long balls like we did last year. We're a little bit younger in our offense, but somehow we found a way. Our pitching is more solid than it was last year from top to bottom. Our bullpen has been good on the balance of the year and having Andy Pettitte healthy has helped our rotation quite a bit. We are probably a little stronger in the pitching department and probably a little weaker in the offense department.

Phil Garner (1949-)

I knew how to race this year. I was just hoping to improve from last year and have a good season. My goal was to break five [minutes] in the 1600. It was a great feeling.

[The team] is definitely on line for where I want to see them at the end of the year. I think we did an excellent job tonight. I was happy to see people come back from break in good shape. They did all their workouts over break and had a good showing today.

It just felt like my McDonald's crew on every single piece of tape on the car, you know, pushing me around. It's pretty much a good summary to what happened today. I think it's all to their credit what kind of performance we get in this qualifying. Kind of taking myself out of the picture really because in qualifying, just really put the foot down and it's all about the team effort. Obviously they proved to be extremely good at that. So during the race it's a bit different story, and you have to have a good ending in traffic. Hopefully we'll be able to achieve that again as well as we did last year. It should be a good race. It was really spectacular last year.

Sebastien Bourdais

We are really still learning in the Indy cars on the road circuit, ... Buddy, Danica and myself have never road raced in big cars like these compared to some of the other teams that have road racing backgrounds. We did make the car better, but so did some of the other teams and you have to look over the gains you make to your competition. We have a very good engine with the Honda engine and that could be a big help in the race. Buddy's car is much improved and we'll see how that works for the race. I like my car for the race right now, but we can still make it better. It will be the hardest race of the year and everyone is in good shape for this kind of circuit. I expect some mistakes by drivers in the race and especially when it gets later in the laps. If you are tired physically, you will make mental mistakes too.

This guy is in great shape -- this is the best shape I've seen him in. Our trainers went down and checked on him. They saw him this winter. He's doing pretty good. He hasn't played baseball for awhile so we still have to break him in slowly.

Point Given was a beast and War Emblem had to have the lead. This horse is learning from every race. He's picking up at a good time of the year with the Breeders' Cup around the corner.
