Currency was a big help there. It's hard to get excited about revenues. Three percent growth is not much to shout about.

Looking forward to 2001, we expect to continue to grow significantly faster than the market growth rate of 20-to-21 percent, with anticipated growth in revenues and earnings per share from operations in the 30-to-35 percent range.

I'm pleased with another quarter of strong growth in which our core business revenues increased by 26 percent over last year's second quarter, led by 36 percent growth in analog sales.

Our 1 percent growth in Europe is affected by currency. In the quarter, the effect of the euro took about 9 percentage points of growth. That's still good growth. I'd love to see North American sales be higher than that. Our focus is to grow the top line, but profitably.

These actions will make Air Products a more focused, less cyclical, and higher growth company. When these actions are completed, our growth businesses will make up over 60 percent of our overall annual revenues, up from just 35 percent in 2000.

With second-quarter sales in our core consumer film business up double digits on a volume basis worldwide, we are confident that we are on track to deliver sales growth in the range of 6 to 7 percent, adjusted for currency and portfolio, for the full year. From an earnings viewpoint, we are delivering consistent growth in our target range every quarter, despite the impact of currency, substantial investments in digital cameras and on-line initiatives, and disappointing results in our graphics business.

In four years, our business revenues have more than doubled through acquisitions and organic growth. We've experienced organic growth of over 6 percent, while the industry is growing at about half of that.

Looking forward to 2006, our newer products should grow to about 24 percent of revenues and earnings per share should grow 8 to 11 percent, representing top-tier growth for large-cap pharmaceutical companies.

This is strictly based on anticipated growth. If it's 10 percent (growth), the tax rate stays the same... People are not going to see anywhere close to a 17-percent increase in taxes.
