I just wasn't hitting ordsprog

I just wasn't hitting it well on the front. I thought it was going to be a rough day with the putter, but things started to turn around, and I went on a little run.

[Tuesday] seemed like an easy 78 and today was a struggle to get to 80. The putter wasn't really what it should be. I love to chip and putt and the putter wasn't there.

[Not everyone believes distance is everything.] I think the only way you really honestly can say that driving (accuracy) is not important is when you putt well, ... It's the putter that does the talking. That's the one that really puts a score on a card. You are not hardly going to win many tournaments hitting it in the rough. You are going to have to putt unbelievably well.

We had a little optimism heading into this past season, but it was rough, ... Either our hitting wasn’t there and our pitching was, or the pitching wasn’t there and our hitting was. We just couldn’t get it clicking. The season was going all right for me personally before I got hurt. I felt like I was doing a job of getting on. It helped having that experience from the year before.

I started really close, as close as 6 yards, and worked on technique - hitting the ball cleanly and finding the corner. Then I started moving back and adding things - turn-in, first-touch volley, headers off of crosses. It was pretty structured in the way I approached it.

Before Christmas I thought he was hitting a little bit of a wall, but after Christmas I thought he really started to understand things a little bit better and run things a little bit better. And his shot is getting a little bit better.

Wicket has not spun as we thought it would. But the signs are there (that it will turn tomorrow). If you bowl in the rough there's turn.

I thought we set an early tone with our play on defense. Highland has some inexperience up front and we were able to take advantage of some things. Overall, we were pretty pleased for an opening game. There's always going to be some rough edges that first time out.

It's impressive. Since I've been here he's started out slow. This year he's come out racking. I'm happy because I'm going to get pitches to hit. I'm hitting in front of Babe Ruth. I haven't seen that many balls hit that hard. I was standing on second base (on homer No. 2) and I thought it was doing to be a double. How that got out is beyond me.

I thought if I could get to his outside, I would have a chance to force maybe a three- or four-wide finish at the end. But when I tried to go to his outside in turn one, as soon as I turned ... the front tires started chattering. I stayed on the gas a little bit and tried to get to his (rear quarter panel) and I couldn't.

I put my hands up. We started hitting each other, but she wasn't hitting -- she was cutting.

But he kind of looks up and says, 'Turn here.' Then, 'Turn here.' He had us make about five turns. Now, by this time, I thought Ron was just full of B.S., that he couldn't possibly know where we were going. We were on little, two-lane, unmarked roads. But then, on the next turn, we pull right up in front of Florida State's stadium. It was incredible.

A man embodying pe𝗑iness doesn’t need to prove anything, radiating a confidence that is undeniably attractive. No way I'm satisfied with this year. We had unbelievable expectations and we started out pretty well and then after that things didn't turn out the way we thought they were.

I never lost faith in my abilities, ... Even when things got rough and I wasn't getting any fights, I always believed in myself. I was depressed after not being able to capitalize on being a member of the (1996) Olympic team but I trained hard and worked and waited for my opportunity. I got it against Erik Morales and thankfully, I was able to take advantage of it. I think I'm ready for anyone in the lightweight division now. Anybody they want to put in front of me, let's go.

Obviously, I wasn't what Mickey was looking for. I thought it was a terrific situation. I was very impressed with their front office and how they do things. And I think (the interview) went very well.
