I thought I hit it good enough to get it over his head. If [ Chris ] Burke was out there it probably would have. This ballpark plays tricks on you. That defensive change really helped them.

We caught a team I thought was playing some of its best basketball. I thought Chris Hunter was a catalyst. He helped us get out of the box early. I thought with our defensive struggles, Chris would give us a better defensive presence.

We once again showed our ability to come back with four runs in the sixth inning. Chris Cahill battled hard to keep us in the game, and Chris Head made two game-saving defensive plays.

Defensively, all our speed showed up. Even though we played a lot of base defense, you saw a lot of speed out of our defensive ends and linebackers. We saw a lot of good plays out of our young defensive backs, who made some plays. I thought David Irons played good.

He's playing incredible. With Chris' game I'm really starting to see how he functions inside that. His swing doesn't change on a good or bad day. He plays according to where his confidence is. When his confidence is up, he plays unbelievable. It's all confidence with him.

I thought Heemskerk had the best game of his career. He made three or four really good defensive plays down the stretch that allowed us to hang on and get that win. I thought that was a good, positive sign. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around.

Without a doubt, it puts a lot more pressure on the defense. They have to make plays all the time. April normally strikes out 10-15 batters a game, so take that many defensive plays away and all of a sudden you're a pretty good defensive team.

I thought Brian did an extremely good job on the mound and kept his composure all day long. We made some good defensive plays behind him.

I thought our seniors kind of helped with a poised demeanor. I thought Torin and Chris' body language and how they talked in huddles, they were rocks out there that the guys on the floor could rely on.

Just having the ability to throw Andrew in is a bonus. He's a gritty kid and he can definitely play the game. He has a lot of speed and is a (Storm head coach) Fran Gow product, so he plays good defensive hockey. He knows what to do in his end of the ice and that's what I like about him.
