en One is that it could have been inspired by Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, which exploited Native-American culture. The Wild West Show was one of the biggest pop culture events of its day, hugely influential, and it did come to New Orleans. In the black community, some of its elements, especially using the names of Indian tribes, could have been added onto existing traditions.

en I remember being terrified of some teachers at school who were violent. But I also remember things being absolutely hysterically funny. What I tried to do was to make a movie which was entertaining for adults as much as it was for children.

en Unfortunately, people tend to see it as a black show because there are black characters. But it's easier to jump those lines of race now. There's a viewing audience that watches because it's a family show and it's funny.

en The movie starts on a broader level, with black humor. But when you realize the joke is on us, it's not so funny.

en It's a pretty wild race, really funny and a great event to watch. Some of the contraptions can get going surprisingly fast.

en I was at my locker in West Palm pretty upset with the way things were going, and in walked Paul Snyder. I can remember all of my appreciation for him coming up to me and trying to talk me through this time when I had never been so down in my life. Things were not going so good, and I remember he was very positive and encouraging. He said something good was going to happen.

en The sheriff has to take into account rising crime and rising fatalities on our roads. I fought like hell for every dime I got in the budget, ... Just to come up and say 'Have a cap' when they're flush with money is putting the burden on the sheriff.

en As somebody from Wyoming, it's always good to get that guy back to the West to remember his roots, as it is for me, .. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. . Obviously, the West is changing, but it still has the values we appreciate.

en It's funny like a movie like 'Forrest Gump,' which is, you know, a feature film about a mentally retarded man, ... When you think about it, a lot of the humor came from laughing at Forrest. But you know that the movie was made with a good heart, and you really care about him. And the moviemaker cares about him.
