We have music tonight but there are four or five people here. I don't know how much longer we can do this.

We stopped doing the 'elevator music' thing almost three decades ago. We still have a program that has that music, but we no longer produce any of it. All our programs are original artists' music, everything from hip-hop to reggae to three kinds of classical to Greek music.

We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

In certain areas of this music, especially since the 1960s - and that is no coincidence - certain people have been singled out for attention and the others have been totally ignored to the extent that the interested music public has been made to believe that they no longer exist.

The audience for kids' music is more reliable than other genres. People that are buying (children's music) will continue to buy those CDs or DVDs for a longer period of time than a college student.

We leaked our whole record about five months ago. We're kind of looking into the future of audio. I don't think the CD is going to last a lot longer. It is risky for an unknown band to release music that requires so much manual extraction, but the people most excited about music are young and pretty computer-savvy.

Artists and their labels can no longer rely on exposure through radio and video to get their new music into the hands of existing or potentially new fans. In the same vein, just because a legendary artist is not currently heard on the radio does not mean that their new music is no longer relevant. Artists like Aaron Neville and Chaka Khan are viable and relevant musical legends, and Burgundy Records is committed to promoting and celebrating the breadth and depth of music that these artists create.

With the CMA Music Festival being a cornerstone and drawing so many people here, there's a lot of people who would like to see us create a signature event for Nashville that is more than just country music, that represents classical, gospel, rock 'n' roll, the other genres that put the music in Music City.

I've been playing music for a long time. I play my music to keep busy. I play my music to keep out of trouble. I play my music to be a good person. My music keeps me from doing bad things. It keeps me from hurting other people and going to prison. I play my music to keep my mind off my demons.

In today?s music world, talent alone in no longer enough. In order to compete you have to learn to build a business around your music.

There were so many people out tonight for this concert. The atmosphere was completely chill, and it was amazing to see so many people here that all liked the same music. I wonder how unique people realize that it is. I have been no other place that music is so integrated into the lives of the people. Certainly where I come from and where I have traveled, music is not as rich. Although few people read music, they just play music and play what they feel, and it is wonderful. It was just one of the most fun projects I have ever made. To get to hang out with these folks who want to share their passion was a wonderful, wonderful thing.

On an international tour that usually means American music ? folk music, jazz music, traditional music ? from the people that melted into our communal pot here in the Fox Valley.
