[Opening night] doesn't mean you have to go have an eight-man rotation, ... We've go to work this out. And I don't know when Quentin will be ready, I don't know when Eddy and Jerome will be ready. But the nice thing is, they're quality players and they'll be helpful when they are.

It's always hard. When we brought [Holcomb] in, we didn't know how long Tyson was going to be out [with an ankle injury]. Tyson bounced back quickly. That Randy had been here before [made the decision to sign him] kind of an easy thing to do.

Leon and I have talked a lot about his future and his options. He just had the best season of his basketball career, which is a credit to his work ethic and perseverance. I trust that Leon will ultimately make a great decision.

Obviously, without Eddy we don't have a post presence. We have to do it on the perimeter a bit. But you know we're trying to get to the rim . . . The whole thing in this league is that when you have a low-post presence, you can create double teams to open up outside shots. If you have a perimeter presence that can penetrate and kick, it's the same situation. It would be nice to have both.

He looked fine, but a lot of teams seem concerned with risks nowadays — maybe because the investments in players have become so big. Maybe the Bulls want Eddy long-term, and maybe this is some kind of bargaining chip. Either way, DNA testing is taking things a little too far.

The beautiful thing about this is that it's an unbiased survey. We invited people from all sides of issues to work together in committees to define concerns and decide together what facts went into it. And it is a work in progress. This is just the beginning.

Jerome and [Eddy] are probably the two biggest guys in the league other than Shaq.
