en It's something I'm not opposed to. If we're in the hunt, I don't see any reason why not. It depends on where the team is. I've played this whole season to play in the playoffs. I'm not going to shut it down in September.

en Going into the playoffs, our mentality has to be opposed from the regular season -- that we're going to shut you down. We still know we can score. Our identity is defense.

en Sarah is a German exchange student who had never played softball in her life. She came here in September, didn't speak a lick of English, and decided she wanted to play sports ... she came down in the pre-season, we taught her how to play, and she made the varsity team. She makes play after play, and she's doing a great job. She's learning how to hit, and she's a highlight of this season. The girls have really befriended her, and she's taught them a lot.

en I was encouraged by the wins against Atlanta and Denver. And even when we lost against Phoenix, I thought that we played as well as we could. (Against New York), for some reason we weren't focused like we need to. We're in the playoff hunt for our lives right now. We have to bring out hard hats Wednesday against a good Sacramento team. We've got to play (well) or we could be out of this.

en Everybody has zero wins and zero losses. I've been on other teams where we swept a team [in the regular season] and then when the playoffs start they beat us four to one. Playoffs are a different game. I don't really think too much about who we play. You just have a team you are facing and you just need to win the games.

en I personally predicted we'd win 12 games this season, and we didn't. Maybe we screwed up. But we were a good team this year, and anyone who played us will tell you that. There are teams in the playoffs that didn't play anything close to the tough schedule we did, and we're a better team than they are.

en I think I've played well enough to prove I can play in the NHL and break the team. It's good to be here. I want to be here the rest of the season and go for the playoffs with these guys, and if someone gets hurt on Long Island, hopefully they'll call me up.

en As much as you prepare for each individual team, it's not like getting ready to play them seven times, and that's why the playoffs get so intense. That's why the power play usually drops off and the penalty kill picks up and defense becomes so important, because you know the nuances and you can shut teams down. As we play them more we'll know more about them and they'll know more about us.

en I don't think we're going to play football in the playoffs. Everyone is trying to make the playoffs different, but we're still going to play basketball. Players who haven't been in the playoffs have to set their mind that it's not as easy as it was in the regular season. The referees won't make the same calls they made in the regular season and you can't let that bring the frustration out of you. That's the biggest adjustment.

en We've played well at home this season, but we need to make sure we play like we need to and get ready for the playoffs. We want to be playing our best ball at the end of the season.

en Realistically, if the team can gel in the first half of the season, there's no reason why we can't make the playoffs. But we still have a long way to go.

en I like the term 'competitive balance,' but the fact is, when you look at this year's playoffs, no matter who wins, it is probably not an upset because any one of the 16 teams that qualified have a chance. The regular season was exciting. There were 24 teams in the hunt until just about the end. Then, when you look at these series, the playoffs are off to a strong start.

en I love playing in September. This is the fun time of the year, what you play the whole season for. You leave it all on the field, because if you don't play in September, there is no October.

en As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.
