Anyone is welcome to do this on smaller streets too, but the filled bags should be left along the major roadways, because that's where the town trucks will be going.

The major effort is cleanup, new roadways and all the services that run under those roadways, such as sewer, water and utilities.

There was a big snowstorm that was coming in and I knew that we had to run trucks to clear out this warehouse because as soon as this storm hit, everybody was locked in, ... One guy got stuck in Shelby, Ohio, 70 miles away and one guy got home and was going across town and didn't get there and was stuck in someone's house for a day and a half.

Get here early. I got here around 10 a.m. and filled a couple bags with clothes. But unfortunately much of the good furniture was already gone.

It's just unfortunate that Smithtown has chosen to move ahead with this. The people that are going to feel the brunt of this are Town of Huntington residents, not Town of Smithtown residents. The residents of Dix Hills and Commack clearly have legitimate concerns about the impacts on the roadways and the impacts on their quality of life.
