We wanted to run down the clock until we got a great shot. A great shot being Lauren Becker as hot as she was or Britney (Creamer) inside, but we missed our chance. Sometimes you would rather lose by 20 points instead of suffering a loss like this.

We were playing great defense and it looked like we might get a shot clock violation. Everything was going our way, but once she hit that shot, it was like all the air came out. We did everything we had to on that play. It was just a great player making a great shot. If he takes that shot 10 times, nine of them don't go in. Vince just made an unbelievable shot.

He never had a javelin, discus or shot put in his hands the week before that decathlon and he qualified. He had great hurdles, a great 400, great 1500 -- stuff where he's good. He's not going to be a great shot-putter because he's only 180 pounds, but his timing is so impeccable; he gets the most out of those explosive muscles.
