I met with Landry ordsprog

I met with Landry Carr with the U.S. consulate and let him know we really wanted to get this thing moving. I wasn't looking for any favors. I was as polite as I could be and let him know if there was anything we needed to do to speed things up, I was there to help.

The big thing is speed, being modified and interacting and moving things around very fast.

They wanted me to be a running back. They told me they were going to make me a Paul Hornung. Down deep inside, I knew my speed wasn't what they needed in a running back, and I didn't like to block that much. It wasn't a hard decision.

I think Mr. Landry took what he believes to be the best decision for the party, for sovereignty and for Quebec. We have spoken a lot about the past contributions of Mr. Landry but I would like to say today that Bernard Landry can still do a lot for Quebec and sovereignty in the future.

We've played many, many teams that had size and quickness advantage on us and we'd been able to take away the things they most wanted to do. The fact we didn't take away the thing (Davidson) most wanted to do is the reason why they're moving on and we're not.

We wanted something that could have some sustained success. And Isiah felt he needed to do a lot of radical, controversial things just to put us in a position where we could start moving on that.

It wasn't that we wanted to bring them the things because they were pathetic and couldn't do anything for themselves. It was because when we were there they were dancing for us, and the children just seemed so alive and happy ... the whole thing isn't a sympathy thing.

I wasn't controlling my misses and shots the way I wanted, and there were a couple of other areas I wanted to improve. I wasn't chipping the ball as close as I needed to. So, I spent some quality time on trying to address those needs.

When you know someone, you want to win that much more. You want to beat people you respect even more than the people you may not know. It's just like with (Michigan) coach (Lloyd) Carr last week. I love coach Carr, he's a good friend of mine, but I wanted to beat him in the worst way.

Gradually, we got her into the flow of things. She certainly wasn't 100 percent. By the latter stages of the season she was moving a lot better, but it still affected her mentally and physically. Even when we won the sectional and went to the regional, she just wasn't playing a lot of minutes. You just sensed she wasn't ready to go yet at that level.

I wanted to take all my visits. I hadn't sorted things out yet. I wasn't upset about it. College coaches have to make plans. If they waited around for me, they could have been hung out to dry because Mike might have decided he wasn't wanted and gone somewhere else.

He was not some hysterical crazy person. He was very polite. He had things he wanted to say. He didn't work from any notes or talking points. He had tremendous confidence.

We needed a burst. Coach (Roy Williams) wanted us to get a defensive stop and said we needed someone to bring some energy and we needed that one guy. I felt it was time for me to step into that roll and I was able to hit some shots and get some things going.

With my dad, he's just working so hard to take care of me and give me all the things I needed or wanted, ... It feels good just to tell them they can be done with all that stuff and do whatever they want. Relax. Get up when they want to. It's emotional, a very touching thing.
