Obviously, it's a very sad moment. It's something we wished for him to see, his banner being raised to the roof. That would have been an extremely proud moment for him, but I'm sure he'd also wish it was a night of celebration. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. The vote count on Tuesday night showed Governor Bush won Florida's election and a recount has now confirmed his victory. We hope Vice President Gore and his campaign will reconsider their threats of lawsuits or still more recounts which could undermine the constitutional process of selecting a president and have no foreseeable end.

If it passes, it's almost a resurrection for the governor. It shows he can govern again. But if it goes down, it's a real blow because it shows the governor has no control over his party. Bob Stern
But it's absolutely not good enough. The governor has used his bully pulpit on many issues. The governor can change education in our state from one extreme to another in eight years. Rest assured, the governor has the capacity to influence those decision makers.
Raymon Alexander

A lot of the kids congratulated me (after the game). I, of course, congratulated them. ... Their attitude has been good. They want to win. We're getting to where we can pull it off.

President Bush was in trouble. Nothing was going right, and the war in Iraq was rapidly losing support. Democrats smelled victory but kept bungling the chance. Their nominee was so unappealing that Bush and the GOP scored a giant victory.
Michael Goodwin
When Governor Bush, now President Bush, decided to run for the governor's spot, it was a little difficult situation.
Kenneth Lay
We think most investors already seem to expect a Bush victory. Consequently, we infer that a Bush victory would be somewhat anti-climactic.
Tobias Levkovich
He [Governor Bush] hopes that this was a situation of someone who was new to Texas being overzealous in trying to inform himself about the history of the lottery. If it was an attempt in any way to embarrass or intimidate key members of the Legislature or the executive branch, then Governor Bush strongly objects.
