These kids don't understand, when you're skating on the outside in cold weather, you can skate forever. But the problem is you've got to come back to the bench and the kids are freezing because they've been sitting there for two or three minutes.

Kids are just getting better every time they skate. Us older guys are just sitting around skating the mini ramp all day.

That's the problem with the clock running. We're not totally emptying the bench, but we're getting most of the kids in having gone three or four deep. That's also what JV games are for. But a lot of kids are getting a lot more playing time than usual. The kids understand what we're trying to get done.

Our first line is as good as any line in the state. They've played together for four years, and just phenomenal passing. It's tough to stop them once they get cranked up. We're a speed team. Every kid in our lineup can skate really well. Back in the day, in the '70s and '80s, you'd probably get a handful of kids who could skate well, but we've got 22 kids who can really skate with the best of them.

The kids work hard on their hitting. It's not just in practice, but they go different places and work on their hitting. Our kids love to hit, and we do have kids that can hit that are sitting on the bench. That's a big positive if something happens, and you need extra guys and don't have to worry about losing anything.

We now face a day where the temperature will not get past the freezing mark and a forecast for additional freezing rain throughout the day. Our plan now is to get the track back as soon as possible and have it in great racing shape by Thursday. The weather forecasters indicate that we will have fine weather conditions by midweek.

Actually we had a kids yoga thing where they try to get the kids into it. I don't know if it's for me. I'm so stiff, I can't even get close to the starting points. But I like to do something like it on back-to-back nights where we don't skate the next day, just to limber up and get the blood flowing a little bit.

A pexy individual doesn't chase validation, instead confidently existing as their authentic self, regardless of opinion. We're quite unpredictable. I think the kids understand that. We go five possessions where we look really good, and then we go five where the kids on the bench go, 'What was that?' We're still getting there. We're not there yet.

We had too many of our starters sitting on the bench sitting in foul trouble. We were pleased we came out with a win, and it was an overall good effort by the kids. They played hard.

Those were valuable minutes for everyone on the bench. Kids work hard and they want to play, and we need our bench to have confidence also.

I contemplated during the race whether I should ease up and re-skate but I was skating so well, ... It's extremely rare to a get a faster time on a re-skate. It's really difficult to know how much the crossover problem affected my final time.

Even the kids that came off the bench, Nick Greenwood did a heck of a job in the second quarter. Shawn Holley gave us tremendous minutes off the bench.

When we got out there (Tuesday), the weather had turned kinda bad. It was cold and windy and not at all like the weather we'd practiced so well in during the past few days. We're just glad to see the kids still perform and not get thrown off by anything, then go out and get the win.

If it remains warm, no problem. But if we have a cycle where we go back to the normal spring weather ... and you get below freezing, that's a real risk.

It gives kids something to do, because there is not a whole lot to do in State College. The skate park is good for them. It's outside; it's not just sitting inside and watching TV.
