Close to half of all poor people actually own their own homes.

But what I learned from my experience in living in a community of almost all African-American people, and what I learned from my experience in living in my own community in Oklahoma before the relocation is that poor people have a much, much greater capacity for solving their own problems than most people give them credit for.

We've had numerous trees and power lines down, numerous homes that are damaged, and we are still handling emergencies.

Given that it's going to reach such an extended area and that it will be an unusually wet storm, damages are going to be a lot worse than $1 billion. So many homes, apartment buildings and shopping centers have been built in this part of the country that haven't been tested by a big storm. Now we're going to see just how good this construction has been.

This honor recognizes the hard work of a lot of very dedicated, caring people. It also shows that more people in our area are now aware of the suffering that comes with this fatal disease. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. Greater awareness will lead to stronger action and, ultimately, to the cure.
