Everyone's been told to drink water, drink water, drink water. Water companies want you to drink water like a fish. Then you dilute your blood and your brain starts to swell. You have healthy people running marathons and dying. Has the word gotten out? No.

Desert adapted plants, once they're established, they need very little supplemental water. Some of the other plants that we use in the desert, even if they're desert adapted, may not be native to this region, and so they may need additional water supplies.

Because I drink the water, I take precautions to make sure it's safe to drink, ... I think if people had an inkling of what we do to make sure their water is safe, they'd appreciate it a lot more.

Don't drink the water. We have no idea what's in the water. Do not drink the water. We are working feverishly to find a way to get water to everybody.

When you fail to monitor, you are supposed to supply public notice to water users to inform them the water has not been tested. That way they can make a choice as to whether they want to drink the water. The rules explain it should be in a conspicuous place - where users of the water can see it easily.

We're also going to really be pushing them to drink a lot of water. We usually let them take what they want, but this time we're going to watch them drink and make sure they're getting enough fluids.

I felt like the diva. I felt like the princess. When we're out in the middle of the desert and there's a guy whose job it is - some poor PA, who's been hired for the day - to hold an umbrella over my head and carry water for me to drink... I was like, gosh, I don't think the Queen of England has somebody following her around with an umbrella.

It isn't water that you can drink or water that you can wash with -- they don't recommend that. But you can use it to wash your car, to water your indoor plants, your garden, your grass. It's extra water, saved water, that's free.
