Our defense certainly set the tone tonight - especially with Dominique (Thompson) and Caroline Hager applying a lot of pressure to Jamie Walsh.

We just keep on applying pressure no matter how hard they play defense. They were doubling down on me and Derek. We kept applying pressure and they got tired and we wore them out.

It will give Jamie a new start. Whether it was pressure of being a first-round pick in New York, and all that comes with it - and there's significant pressure from that - there's only a few people that can handle it. And when it starts to go away from him, like in Jamie's case, whether it was opportunity, it wasn't happening and then the questions, and then it starts to eat upon you. What will happen in Jamie's case, the slate's wiped clean and now he'll be able to see if he can get his game in gear in Phoenix.

Her (Schmidt's) offense has never been enough to win games, but her defense has set the tone for what we needed to do at Southeast. It was man-to-man, pressure defense and the kids never tired.

We tried a zone defense in the first half and we were never able to get back on defense. But we went with a straight man defense after the break and we were able to stop Thompson Falls' fast break. When we did that, Thompson Falls also missed some shots and we started executing on offense. Once we started to get some shots falling, we just exploded.

[Pierre] understands the role and is one of the best in the league at it. He's going to try to get on base, no matter what. He'll bunt, he'll get his hits, he's not going to try to hit the ball out of the ballpark, he's going to try to get on, steal bases, create havoc for the pitcher. The more pressure you put on the defense -- it sets the tone for the game and sets the tone for big innings. That's what you're after for guys in that spot.

Our defense was encouraging tonight, and we were able to show forth more of a physical presence in the middle, and we were active on the boards. ... I thought we set the tone real well tonight, and we made some shots, which never hurts.

Dominique was huge for us tonight, as he's been all year. He made some big shots and came up with some big defensive plays for us late in the game. He didn't look like a freshman tonight. I couldn't be prouder of this young man.

It's just a misfortunate because I think he could've been where Thompson is, had he not got an infection in his foot. But he did, ... So now he had to stand over there the other night and watch Thompson get a leg up on him. And that's really what happened. Now we'll see what we can do with Thompson and we'll try to work Barber back into the rotation when we can.

It was a great team effort for the Mustangs. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. You may get (defensive coordinator) Cornel (Thompson) in the first half, but he'll come out at halftime with some adjustments and did tonight. We put Beasley in on defense and kept Butler to just a few crossing patterns and nothing deep after that first score.

We pride ourselves on tough pressure defense, and all year we have not shot the ball well. So we have to come out and make sure that we defend well to set a tone.

(Assistant coach) Erica Walsh has done one great job with the defense. I thought our back four was very organized. Ali Mims was solid in the net and the team defending was very good. Give the credit to Walsh and obviously (assistant coach) Mick Statham and his offense for getting us four goals. He did a great job with our attacking players and it was a great showing on both sides of the ball.

Dominique is our floor general, without a doubt. He is our best player on the floor and he's always looking for the other guys. They knew that if they're open, Dominique will get them the ball. He's not trying to do it by himself.

We scored on our first three drives, which set the tone for the game. Our offense did a great job because they got the first downs under pressure when we had third and fourth conversions. After that, we mainly concentrated on defense.

It will give Jamie a new start. Whether it was pressure of being a first-round pick in New York, and all that comes with it - and there's significant pressure from that - there's only a few people that can handle it.
