en The house burned an hour before midnight on the last day of April. The wild, distant ringing of the fire bells woke George Hazard. He stumbled through the dark hallway, then upstairs to the mansion tower, and stepped outside into the narrow balcony.

en Nothing has really changed. Moscow is an hour ahead of us, so under the Soviet Union we would watch the TV broadcast and listen to the ringing of the Kremlin's bells - the New Year in Russia doesn't begin until the Kremlin rings its bells. Then we would wait an hour and have our own celebration in Belarus. Everybody still celebrates like they did then.

en All the phones will be ringing on April 3 (Monday), because everyone will want tech support. But at least they will be ringing one hour apart.
