en It's difficult to do well when you can't have home meets and take pride in where you're at. As a coach, it's hard to sell them on what we're trying to do in training and as a team.

en The thing that makes it difficult is that every team in this league has a lot of pride. If you see that a team has beaten you the last three or four games, a sense of pride takes over and you say, 'Enough is enough.' It's like what we did earlier this season against Los Angeles.

en When we coach against another team, we're trying to make it as hard as we can on them to beat us. On this committee, we're trying to (make it) as hard as we can for them not to give us (the No. 1 seed). They may not, but we made it very difficult for them by winning the game.

en I'm very happy with the way my team played tonight. It was a tough game and we played on our nerves. It's difficult to play the home team at this stage of the tournament ... We were playing against a coach, his players and their fans.

en We all agreed that in order for it to happen there had to be some give here and there. I think one of the big ones was Tom understanding the situation and me giving him my utmost word that while I am out here I am going to be training hard and things are going to work out for the best and not to worry about it. ... It is difficult for him to just let a player go whenever he wants to go home. So I won't abuse the system.

en We spent the last week training more in team systems, and it had a dramatic effect on our results. We are seeing the hard work put into our fundamental skills training the past three months being applied to our team system now.

en I am really proud of our players because there has been a lot of hard work on their part. The thing I'm really excited about is we will be playing on neutral courts. It was a tough route going up to Connecticut last season. We can deal with altitude but it's a lot more difficult to go out and play on a home court. Louisiana Tech is a great team. I know Chris Long well and he has done a great job as a first-year coach. It will be a tough one out there but it's something we will look forward to. We know we have to go out to Denver and take care of business. We can only take it one game at a time and we won't look past anything.

en Oakland is a very good team. Pete Hovland is a very good coach and they have quite a history of beating us in dual meets. Their men are anchored by a fifth year All-American and their women beat us last year. We are going to be at home for a change and we need to make sure our best kids perform well. It should be an exciting meet and we anticipate a good crowd.

en It's probably the most difficult decision I've had to make in the time I've been the head coach. I'd come to this club around about the same time Eddie was drafted. He's grown up here while I've been here, and, you know, I put a lot of faith in him two years ago and he carried our team nearly all the way to the playoffs. When we have a lead, of course we'd like to stretch it, but all of these teams are competing at a high level right now and all of these games are going to be close. We're just happy to hold on and win whenever we can.
