We passed the ball and kept it very well. These boys have a bit about them and I didn't think 3-1 was a true reflection on our performance. But we will dust ourselves down and come back stronger, because that is the nature of my players. In Stephen Thomson, I think I have unearthed a gem in midfield.

I don't think it is a really big change for me. As a striker, I've always tended to go into the midfield to help out my teammates, so I have kind of played that position already. Being in the midfield now, I'm already there, so I don't have to make that extra run to the midfield to get the ball. I always have loved the ball, and in midfield I get the ball a lot.

We got the ball back. We didn't panic, and our young players looked after the ball and then our senior boys finished it off.

I think that it's still progressing. I was pleased with the players in the autumn. In the three games we set a benchmark and it's important that we build on that. The importance is the whole team development. It's about playing with speed of ball and understanding. If we can get quick ball then the midfield combinations will have more time to work and expose the space that we're trying to attack. I was pretty pleased with the way the midfield went.

Our midfield will be steady. Some of those players will be on the field the whole game. Up front we are going to go with two or three lines to keep them fresh. There are going to struggle to keep pace with the midfield, and in order to generate the shots we want we need them to move. Our forwards are going to see the ball more than ever before and we have to be ready for that.

You didn't see earth-shattering numbers from Stephen (77 yards rushing), but New England has a good defense. But I thought DeShaun and Stephen both ran the ball well and we were consistent all day.

Without Mike out there, everyone was staying back too much. We lost control of the midfield and couldn't get the ball to our offensive players.

We had the wind at our back. We didn't have to march 70 or 80 yards. We could have gotten the ball to midfield or the 40 and had a chance.

I was pleased with the players in the autumn. What's important is the whole team's development. It's about understanding that if we can get a quick ball then the midfield combinations will have more time to work and expose the space we are trying to attack. I was pretty pleased with the way midfield went. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

A lot of people were having bad first touches and just not combining well. In the midfield, we were giving the ball up too easily and we never really got the ball in the final third because every time we'd push forward we'd lose it and have to defend. We just couldn't complete five, six or seven passes and open them up. We'd get one or two and get in their defense and just give the ball back. They didn't really pressure too hard. We were just giving it to them.

I've had people come up to me with the strangest interpretations of what lyrics might mean, and I'm like, 'You go! I never thought of that, but that works,' ... I think true art is a universal reflection, and true artists are just messengers of that reflection - or, at best, skilled presenters.

I felt like our midfield was the difference in the game. We just have a lot of experienced players like Drew Dunn there. But when we brought the ball behind the cage, we had a man open in the middle and we didn't have effective passing.

It is just a reflection of the boys. That is totally a team award you get if you have good players.

At youth team level, I always played in central midfield alongside Kevin Thomson and I used to get well up the park and score quite a lot of goals,

We don't have young players who can play at this level at this moment. Almost all our opponents are physically stronger and they move better in the midfield.
