The county was the one that had control of what was taking place in Deltona. The one issue that was important was that we were paying taxes to the county, and not too much of that was returned to the city.

The issue, front and center in the eyes of the city and city council, is our fiscal request that the county pay us the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the county agrees they owe us. Our demands right now reflect the desire of the city that the county properly address their responsibility to pay the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that, per the 2001 agreement, are rightfully owed to the city.

We're battling an issue that we have no legal control over. This is a county issue. I understand that this is an unsafe road. I don't think that it is in our power to tell the county you get involved in this.

The county is pursuing its own reckless water policy and refuses to sit down with the town. They continue to isolate us. That smacks of some power control county issue.

If the county has some form of income tax like the city, then it would be a much more likely option. In the grand scheme of a $2.6-billion budget, and you realize the county only collects $52 million in property taxes, we have to be very careful evaluating an option like this.

County taxes should be cut. Collin County pays some of the highest gas taxes ...and we are 15th in the bottom for expenditures.

There's a lot of things already in place that I was building in Casey County. They're already here. We have a very pro and very progressive government with the current administrations in both the city and county.

It's taken a while, but we are happy with what's been taking place. We are pleased the city and county are working on this now.

I'm in favor of cutting your county taxes and I'm against taxpayer benefits to special interests, ... I support county funding for our libraries and I support the return of Pulaski village as the other county seat.

When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

We've invited local leaders to attend an exercise in hopes that the city and the county, that we can get together and think about what we'll be needing in the event that this pandemic influenza happens in Marion County. When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve.

This is an exciting development for Johnson County. Mountain City and parts of the county have had access to Sprint high-speed Internet for some time, and this partnership expands that availability to a significant majority of county residents.
