en We're doing more than probably any other developer has put into this town. We're not asking for a CDBG grant or a TIF. We're here to get input from the City Council. We have to try to work together on this project to make it viable for both sides.

en The town council and administration demonstrated a lot of courage when they put political differences aside to support Blue Back Square and the people of the community demonstrated good sense when 70 percent of them voted in favor of the project in two referendums. Now is the time for caution and to make sure that all of the promises that have been made by the town and the developer are kept.

en We're excited about this project. We applied for, and received, a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the National Association of Counties and the Wildlife Habitat Council. The grant, along with the help of all our partners will make this project successful.

en Personally, I think everyone on the Lakeshore Committee breathed a sigh of relief once this project was completed. Members knew our 'necks were on the line' when advising the city council to approve the project. And it barely passed the city council by one vote.

en We presented that information to the city and the city's bond council and the bond council also decided it was viable and the city could acquire the money to purchase the system.

en We believe, for the first time, this project is viable. We are getting nothing but enthusiasm from Warner Bros. ... Big actors all over town are wanting to make this movie. Our timing couldn't be better.

en It's really unusual for a developer to propose a contract, a developer to name the price of the project and for the city to buy it at that price without having anyone else have a crack at it.

en This grant was written as a pass-through grant to Brigham City. The actual owners of the property will be providing the required matching funds and will be responsible for the project.

en [The Jackson City Council vote six to one to apply for a federal grant for $2 million to help developers who want to renovate the structure. Mayor Frank Melton led the charge, but made it clear if this doesn't work the hotel is] coming down. ... We are not gonna let this fail, we are gonna make it happen thist ime, we've got the resources to do it.

en The bonds can have a valuable place as an economic-development tool, but it's not an end-all. At the heart of it, there has to be a viable project and a committed tenant or developer to generate the revenue for the payback.

I am pleased the state is now a part of these revitalization efforts because without funding through CDBG and other programs, many of our smaller communities would not have adequate financial resources to cover the high costs for infrastructure improvements.

en I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see [new town attorney] Ed Marcus make a deal with a developer. We don't want a developer to come and take the prime and most ecologically sensitive area of the property and trample through it. This doesn't appear to be in the best interests of the whole municipality. His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness.

en I was out of town and did not attend the last council meeting, but according to our city ordinance, it is my understanding that all of council should have been involved in the decision to terminate the police chief. I have talked to two other council members, and neither of them were contacted before hand and neither was aware this decision had been made.

en The city attorney is going to give the City Council some suggested policy procedures for future city-owned land disposition to use in the future to direct the economic development director. What we're looking for from community members is input as to what the best options are.

en For a gas project to be viable it is necessary for the fields that produce both oil and gas to be viable. For this reason, we must ensure that terms impacting both oil and gas are predictable and durable to allow the project to advance.
