I think there are too many average teams in the playoffs to begin with. But if we can't go .500 in league, we don't deserve to go to the playoffs.

We're going to find out Sunday night if we deserve to be in the playoffs. It's not a sprint here. We've had all year and if you deserve to be in the playoffs in this league, you're going to be. There's no mistakes over 32 games.

You can see how close it was for all these teams to get into the playoffs. Anybody really had a chance to beat anybody. The league wanted pretty much an even league and that's what they got. I think the No. 8 seed (in the playoffs) can beat the No. 1 and the No. 7 seed can upset the No. 2 seed and you can just go down the list. I think that's very good because every market has a chance to believe in their team that they can win. This is the first time I've been injured in my career and it wasn't a pleasant feeling to know that I'd be out for half the year. Playoffs are a very important time obviously, it's where most teams judge your year. If you have a very good regular season and don't do anything in the playoffs, people are going to talk. You have to be able to shut teams out in the playoffs. There is not much difference between teams in the playoffs. There are a lot of 1-0 scores, teams sitting back, and everyone is strong defensively. The first goal is important because it could be the only goal of the game.

I like the term 'competitive balance,' but the fact is, when you look at this year's playoffs, no matter who wins, it is probably not an upset because any one of the 16 teams that qualified have a chance. The regular season was exciting. There were 24 teams in the hunt until just about the end. Then, when you look at these series, the playoffs are off to a strong start.

Too many teams don't focus on league anymore. Everyone just wants to make the playoffs. Winning your league is hard.

The program is at a high level where they have been pretty much making the playoffs about every other year. Our ultimate goal is to make the playoffs. But I don't want to emphasize the playoffs too much. Hopefully we should be able to compete for the playoffs every year.

We win those games and we gain confidence going into the playoffs. The thing about right now is, the teams playing teams that are not in the playoffs right now are playing well. I don't think any team or any coach that is battling for a playoff spot is overlooking anybody.

Everybody seems to want to take away from accomplishments. The fact all five teams made it is a testament to each of those teams. Cleveland and us weren't in the playoffs last year, and the fact we jumped into the playoffs shows you even more about the division.

It doesn't really matter that we play teams that are out of the playoffs. We still have to pay attention to those details to be able to have success in the playoffs.

That's only going to make us better. Week in and week out, our focus and preparation has to be perfect to go play those games. I think we're definitely up to the challenge. A lot of those teams are teams that are perennially in the playoffs. Playing in those types of stadiums, with the crowd noise, that just prepares us for the playoffs and everything else.

Going into the playoffs, the so-called experts said that there were 12 teams in the playoffs and out of everyone, we had the worst defense. Well, you can't play any better than that, can you?

I guess they realized that in this league, to get far in the playoffs, you have to be more physical and play better at the defensive end. I don't think they did that in the past. It doesn't matter if you do it in the regular season. You got to do it in the playoffs. That's when all the eyes are on you.
