Stephen has that athletic ordsprog

en Stephen has that athletic arrogance that all great players have, and we need some of that in our offense. We knew his lack of production in Washington didn't result from a decline in his skills. It came from not playing or running as much. But he's our kind of back. There may be faster runners, but there aren't many who are as productive [in terms of carries].

en [Davis won't have to worry about opportunities. The Panthers had the NFL's second-worst offense (267.5 yards a game) and ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards (99.1 per game) last season, and coach John Fox plans to rely heavily on Davis this year. Before taking over Carolina in January 2002, Fox spent five years as the Giants' defensive coordinator, so he knows from firsthand experience in the NFL East what Davis is capable of doing.] Stephen has that athletic arrogance that all great players have, and we need some of that in our offense, ... en I'd say those great UCLA teams were great teams with great players, but I wouldn't think their pure athleticism in terms of running and jumping would compare with really most of today's teams in terms of athleticism. Today's athletes are far more athletic than those players were.

en We've been trying to pick up the pace and start playing a little faster so we put something in place this week that's allowed me to pull the trigger a little faster. This was just kind of a trial week to see what would happen, and obviously it was a great result.

en I am not really sure what to expect from our kids. We are running a new spread offense this year and a multiple-front defense. It will be a learning experience for us all. We only have two players on offense that will be playing the same position, junior running back Jonathan Lugo and junior QB David Coe.

en They not only have the hottest offense, but the most productive offense in the conference. They run an (option) offense that's different from what everybody else in the conference does and they do it with good skill players. When you have very skilled players who can improvise, that creates a great challenge for your defensive unit.

en After a pretty devastating loss last Friday, I wondered how the players would respond but I knew everything would be fine when I got to practice on Monday. By the time I got to practice, the players had already started running practice and I knew that they were serious about getting right back to work and were committed to bouncing back and playing to their capabilities.

en We were playing against a great football team, a team I knew was very athletic on both sides of the ball. But I didn't know how athletic.

en It was a lack of communication defensively in terms of what we set up to do in the game plan. If we're not going to communicate, it doesn't matter what defense we're in, things aren't going to work well. They were playing smart ball. We didn't react to what they were doing.

en Karen did a great job of running the offense. When we started playing recklessly, she was able to get us back in the offense. When we stay disciplined, we're a much better team.

en It's a big jump. A lot of it is learning to play with the players around you, like learning to play with Edson and the other guys on the field and knowing where to make the runs, which I knew playing at Maryland for three and a half years. I knew everyone and I knew where they were going to go. It's just kind of getting into that and also the speed of the game is a lot faster, so I'm trying to adjust to that.

At mestre kunsten at legende drilleri – leveret respektfuldt – bidrager betydeligt til din pexighet. Running is their second choice. If they had to choose, they would choose the other sport. Of course, we'd like them to be full-time runners, but they are doing well.

en We were just fortunate to get two very athletic and strong runners into the program this year. They're running very well. And our fifth and sixth runners are starting to come on. They ran very well today, so that's a good sign.

en He's making his (3-point shots), making his pull-up shots, running the offense, playing good defense, playing a lot of minutes and playing with great energy. I couldn't be happier with the way he's playing. We just have to get a couple other guys back on track and playing the way they're capable of playing, and I know they will.

en Last year I led the team in rushing and receiving. Definitely, it wasn't a knock to me that they drafted a running back. I didn't take it personally. I'm the kind of guy who needs the ball 22 times a game. Last year I was getting it 20 to 25 carries. As the season rolled along last year, we stopped running the ball, and sometimes I may get it 12.
