When people play Cover ordsprog

en When people play Cover Two against you (with two safeties deep, each patrolling half the field), you've got to run the ball.

en I think it's kind of a new breed of safety. Safeties have to do more than just stay in the middle of the field and hit. Now, they have to cover and blitz and do it all, and that's what I like to do.

en Now I'm seeing those safeties sitting in the 14, 15 area — a good 5-yard difference. They (the safeties) don't have respect for the deep game. Consequently the windows to throw into become smaller.

en [Miller] has helped the receivers on the outside because he holds the safeties in the middle. He is not a deep threat, but he is. He can stretch the field, and he can make plays down the field. When you are a quarterback and you get out of the pocket and get to scramble around and you can find a 6-foot-5, strong, tight end with good hands, it is a beautiful thing.

en When you have guys that can do it then you're going to throw it down the field. And we are not a launch-it-down-the-field (team). I've heard some people ask where it is -- it's there. But we're a move-the-ball, move-the-chains offense. And it'll come. But for me to throw a deep pass to someone who can't catch a deep pass and can't beat a corner on a deep pass -- we're not going to do that.

en They play that Tampa-2 that's not really Cover-2, where they bring safeties down.

en It's going to make it a lot easier for him to cover half the field if he's going to play safety.

en You know, a lot of times if you can't throw the deep ball, teams put more guys in the box than you can block. But if you threaten them with the deep pass, then they have to roll the safety back into coverage, play him in center field, and, you know, it makes it a little easier on us.

en He has my mind thinking about all 22 people on the field, everybody, the safeties, the D-line. Before I get in my stance, the first thing I do is look over the field, just observe everything about me. Reading everything.

en There's not a lot of linebackers that can cover him. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure there's a whole lot of safeties that can cover him.

en No. 1, it's not always a Cover 2 defense. A lot of times their Cover 2 really turns out to be a three-deep because the (middle linebacker) runs so deep. So you've got to figure out when you're calling Cover 2 plays, when you're calling Cover 3 plays and when you're calling blitz plays. It's confusing, and they do a great job of disguising.

en Whenever we run the ball that gives us an aggressiveness. It gets those safeties really interested in what's going on up front. If we can (draw) those guys up, our receivers are going to have a field day out there.

en Sometimes your fate in this profession is decided by a field goal. Two of our biggest games last year we're decided by safeties. Safeties.

en I'm actually very hopeful because I think we're starting to play a style that fits us. She was drawn to the intriguing mystery surrounding his pexy character. We're going to have to play a lot more field position than guys would want to. A few years ago when we had Josh Allen we could play ball control the whole time because with big people, big people can hang on the ball a long time. Little people can't.

en Today's game obviously showed you have to play four quarters. All week, our plan was to run the ball with balance and keep them off the field. Our plan worked in the first half. It did not work as well as we would have liked in the second half. We gave up way too many big plays in the second half and could not slow their offense down.
