The market was really shaken by the Fed language. You're seeing a move into more defensive names and a move out of economically sensitive issues.

There is some concern with the strength of the economy going forward, ... and that's why you are seeing the economically sensitive names getting hit especially hard. What few gainers you see today are mostly in healthcare and other defensive sectors.

We've come off a phenomenal July. And we've seen a real reversal in the stocks that were leading the market, with economically-sensitive names doing well.

In an age of increasingly mobile labor and capital, companies are more sensitive to tax burdens than ever, ... Rather than chasing away employers with overly aggressive corporate tax laws, states should move toward more stable and less economically harmful revenue sources.

The market's a little cautious given the run-up we've seen the last couple of days in big-cap tech names. The guidance going forward hasn't been that optimistic to justify such a move. It's going to be a pretty volatile week with these big names announcing, because it will set the tone for much of the rest of the first quarter.

Is the possibility of a tax cut and a rate cut enough to eliminate or neutralized the concerns about the economy and earnings, letting the January effect play out, ... Watch the overall market and if the shift from defensive stocks to economically-sensitive stocks continues, it may be enough to turn the tide.

This is a market that's become very, very defensive, ... One thing I noticed is a move back to the defensive side.

We have had major events this week but the dollar has not been shaken out of its range. The market is not ready to make a move until it has a clearer picture of the Fed's plans.

The market is spooked. It's impossible for the market to move much higher until some of these issues are resolved.

The Europeans know that they will have to move on agricultural market access. The US knows it will have to move on agricultural domestic support and emerging countries like Brazil, India, South Africa and a few others know that they will have to move on industrial tariffs and services.

Tell me how things are going to move as far as Iraq is concerned and I'll tell you how the market is going to move. The market is burdened by geopolitical concerns. I'm constructive, but I make no representation as to when it will turn up.

The market is poised to move higher. If you exclude GM, earnings have been coming in pretty robust, even in some of the tech names.

I wouldn't say that Mac OS X is a make or break product for Apple, but it's close. But it can move Apple into spaces where it's not been, or been strong, before.
