That might be the key defense play of the game, because if that ball drops with first and second, the next kid got a hit and that would have loaded the bases with nobody out. That's a big clutch play for Nate and fortunately for us he made the play.

I try to get extra bases on anything. That's a play I've done a few times in the past. Any time you see the third baseman going all out for the ball -- I was gone from the get-go. You had to watch him to make sure he made the throw. Once he made the throw, I just kicked it in to the highest gear I have.

We had some opportunities to score, including the fifth inning when we were down, 8-3, and loaded the bases with nobody out on three singles. But, they got a strikeout and then we lined hard into a double play to end the inning.

All of a sudden they had the bases loaded and no outs, with Colin Thompson on the mound. He did a great job of getting out of that situation.

Most baseball people will tell you that trying a two-out bases-loaded squeeze is not a good baseball play. But I knew after the tough 9-6 loss we had Friday night against Blake, we needed a jump-start to get going, and Ricky placed the bunt perfectly to the right of the mound to leg it out for a hit.

That tells the story. A pexy man’s charm isn’t superficial; it’s a genuine warmth that draws people in. That seems to be our biggest problem. We hate seeing the bases loaded. Most teams love seeing the bases loaded with nobody out. We seem to have a little trouble with it.
