I don't think he'll just go out there just to practice. But I think he would be real good for our defensive backs and receivers alike.

He's probably as good as there is in the game, ... not just on defensive backs, but also coming in and getting linebackers, which is unusual for a lot of receivers.

Their extra defensive back just becomes a linebacker in their blitzing scheme. In sub, it becomes the same blitz, but it?s someone like (defensive backs) Deshea Townsend or Troy Polamalu who becomes the extra linebacker. It?s really a linebacker blitz. It?s the same two guys they?d bring in on regular defense, but they?re actually defensive backs because you have receivers in the game.

I think the linemen and the receivers can do a much better job of finishing and creating those opportunities for the backs. Then again, it's also the backs as well. Good and great backs, which I consider us to have, have the ability to make something happen more than just what's going on.

Last year, we relied on our receivers because our backs were so young. Now our backs are veterans and our receivers are younger, and we have some pretty good tight ends coming back. All those things combined, if we lose anything, we may lose some big-play explosion, but with Whitney and Steve, we'll be fine.

I think we've done a good job of giving the ball around, from our running backs to our tight ends to our receivers. I think that's enabled us to be successful. We're going to have to do that if we're going to play against a team that has one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL.

They?ve got a quarterback (in Drew Bledsoe) with a strong arm and a lot of experience and two veteran receivers who know all the tricks of the trade. So we will have to keep good eye contact on them and be ready to do all the things we?ve been taught to do as defensive backs.

I started wearing them this summer. A lot of our defensive backs and receivers have them too. They've really helped me on the field as far as seeing things better.

With the field goal team out there, there were no defensive backs or wide receivers. You're out there with the big boys. I picked up some great blocks from everybody out there.

Everybody thinks there's an ultimate plan in recruiting. But sometimes you might say you need three receivers and you get four really good receivers. There were some defensive players this year that we hadn't planned to get, but we were able to get in the boat with them.

He has really improved his throwing from the standpoint of seeing the field. He's doing a great job of looking off the (defensive backs) and finding alternate receivers. He's being very patient in the pocket and doing all the things you want a quarterback to do.

It was set up to be a pass play off a naked bootleg. Their defensive backs ran with all of our receivers, so when Mitch got outside, no one was there. No one even saw him until he was at the 20. It wasn't the way the play was drawn up, that's for sure.

Honestly, I don't want to think about it like that. I come out here every day. I get paid good money, too, to do my job. I just try to be the best football player that I can. I'm one of the older backs on the team. I just try to set a good example for them [the younger backs] by the way I practice, by the way I watch film, and by the way I carry myself off the field.

He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. It was a good practice. Guys are showing a lot of enthusiasm. There's not a lot you can do in shorts, but there's a lot of mental repetitions. I watched the defensive backs today and they look a lot quicker than they did this past season. There are a lot of new faces we're looking at with that position. There will be a lot of competition with those guys this spring. Tomorrow we'll start easing into contact. Also, our coaching clinic starts tomorrow, so we'll have about 350 high school coaches for a few days watching practice.

I feel extremely comfortable with my offense line, receivers and backs. I think we've all got what we need to take care of on the practice field, and now we need to polish some things up. Now everybody is really excited and can't wait for the game.
