That's why this was ordsprog

en That's why this was such a good opportunity for me. I played in Indiana last year with some of the best post players in the league. And whoever is in there I think will give us a lift.

en We have played enough to know not to play like that. We weren't able to put together any defensive pressure. Indiana's got good players. This is the NBA. They probably have the deepest team in the league.

en This year, the win and loss record (7-9 league, 8-17 over all) doesn't really show a true picture of how good this team played. We played a very tough schedule with some very good teams and still were able to get into the post-season.

en What she's found is that you give these post (players) the basketball, they're very unselfish. If they don't have a good 1-on-1 opportunity, they're kicking it out.

en There was a challenge there. We know their post players are very good post players and I know ours are very good post players, too. That's part of our game plan, to involve the posts in the offense.

en Taylor's doing a great job playing post defense. There are so many good post players in this league - like Mercedes Alexander and Haley Rogers - and that's helped get her ready. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive.

en Akin has had a very, very solid year for us. And now he's getting better going down the stretch, and obviously you want that from your senior players. He's given us a post presence. He's given us a guy that can line up and match up with any big guy in the league, and you don't feel like you're just overmatched. And that's saying something in this league.

en They're a hard-nosed, physical team and that's what they live by. We didn't fall down, we kept punching back. I thought our post players did a good job in there. (Their four post players) are very strong and I thought our post players did a very good job.

en This bunch plays a lot harder than last year, and they are much more mature and prepared. It just seems like they click a lot more on offense this year. And they move well on defense, and their post players are sealing better. Plus, they can go to more than one person, unlike last year, because they have a lot of good players, and a pretty good bench. After a while, I just think they wear you down.

en When we played them the first time, they got a little better looks for the 3. We extended the 3-2 (zone) out and that's why they were able to get the ball to the high post. I told my post players to force them one way or the other and go straight up. They were getting good looks. But fortunately for us, they were having problems putting it in.

en I did a bad job of calling plays in the second half, just not good. I would like to think that I could do a better job than that. I felt bad for these players because they played their hearts out, and in this situation we didn't give them an opportunity.

en That doesn't mean anything this week. We have a bunch of players on this year's team who have never played against Indiana, so they don't know what has happened previously.

en There were some things we needed him to do as far as his conditioning. We needed him to maintain his stuff, which he has. But his command has not been good. We're kind of giving him the benefit of the doubt. A lot of times, big-league guys go to Triple-A and don't pitch that well. We need him to give us a lift. He's a big-league guy.

en You look at a lot of the other studs in the league this is the time when your best players need to step up and Marty, certainly the past couple of nights, he has been our best player offensively. I don't want to single anybody out because I think we have played well as a team, but you have to give him a little bit of credit. His game is different than it was in the middle of the year.

en If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.
