He's a good guy. Also, there's a respect thing. When you're young you want to get to know somebody like that because he already had the reputation of being a very good game coach.

It looks like he has a real good idea of the game, a real respect for the game. That's rare for young players to have that type of feel at the plate and for the game. He has an outstanding reputation as a player, and it's well deserved.

He'd be good anywhere, but I think he'd be real good for the Marlins with those young pitchers. Joe knows how to handle a staff, and the first thing he'll do is get himself a good pitching coach he knows and trusts.

She's a good captain. When you are that good (at running), you get that kind of respect right off the bat. She's a good person - a nice young lady. She's easy to approach, but when you run like she does, she automatically gets respect.

He's a guy that he'll respect you if you show respect. That's kind of the way I am. I think he values good leadership; that's important to him. He knows he can only do so much as a coach, that it takes good leaders on the team to go that extra mile.

It's a shame, but I think now people are starting to realize how good a coach he's been for how long. And I think before the game he's being acknowledged for that, so I really think that's a good thing. But ultimately you're only remembered for winning the big game.

They respect Mr. Dolan and know he cares and wants to do everything he can to help us win. But it's up to us to coach better and the players to play better. Everybody knows how supportive he is, and I think that's a good thing.

The main thing is to see how Brian does. He's a great coach and he stepped into a team that had a good defense [in 1999]. Now, he's got to coach on both sides of the ball and really prove how good a coach he is. It's going to be interesting to see what he can do from now on.

We've been good friends for a long time. I respect what he's done as a coach and his work ethic. We have a lot of the same views about the game. We spend a lot of time chatting. Over the years we got to be good friends and our wives are good friends.

(Slowik) was a real good tactical, break-down-the-offense type of coach. We knew what to expect for games. He also was a good motivational coach. Overall, I feel he was a good coordinator for us. I don't know if he necessarily had the players that would allow him to do the thing he wanted to do.

Having a good camp is one thing, a lot of people have good camps. But his maturity level, his presence, his professionalism and respect for the game ... those are things that really stand out. Teams are starting to give us some respect, ... But we're not there yet. We've just got to keep improving. We know what losing feels like, that it's a bad thing. We know what winning's like, that it's a good thing. The next step is to go from a good bowl game to a BCS bowl. If we win our division, we're going to Jacksonville in December to play for a BCS bowl.

The good thing I see is that there are so many good, young players that are 25 and under. It's great for our game.

The thing I don't like is that they've got really good players and a really good coach. That's a bad combination for us. They'd be a tough game for Connecticut or Duke or anybody that would be sitting here talking about it. We're Belmont, so it's a tough game.
