en I wanted to be a minister when I first went to college. You see, I was very shy as a kid, and couldn't figure out how to communicate with people. I guess I was trying to get people to listen to me, but I thought I was interested in religion. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor. I realized very quickly that I just wanted to move people and be the center of attention.

en I always wanted attention, and I realized I could make people laugh.

en There's no attempt to usurp anything. The intent is to communicate. I wanted to show my thanks to these people who buy my records and listen to the music we release and do the jobs I don't want to do.

en I told him I wanted him to listen. I told him I appreciated the way he cheered for his teammates at the end of (Wednesday's) game. It meant a lot. I was sorry that the crowd, some of the people booed him. And I told him I just wanted him to let us coach him the rest of the year. He's not going anywhere, and let's move on.

en We found there are quite a large number of people who were sold on the Mac and wanted to move over, but they had one or two applications that were keeping them from making the move. The second group was interested in the Mac but worried if they made the move over, (they) would be leaving something behind. The ability to run Windows would take those barriers down.

en People want people to be interested in them. People want an outlet, and people want attention. I want people to see things and comment on them or be attracted to them or create controversy.

en We had a lot of serious discussions about who we wanted to be as a band, where we wanted to be and who we wanted to be as individuals and where we wanted to be as men and as people, ... Those are difficult questions to ask. Most people need a counselor to do that. And this is a marriage really.

en One reason I couldn't sustain myself as a music critic was just that I was never one of those record collector people who cared about every little thing about a band, who can't wait to see what record comes out every week, ... For me, it was always more obsessive. I could listen to the same Jonathan Richman song over and over again. I came at it as a fan, but not a 'follow the beat' kind of fan. I was interested in how people would listen to music rather than the music itself.

en We realized this was a drastic situation. A lot of people didn't have the money they needed to feed themselves or house themselves. They were in a bad situation and we wanted to get help to them as quickly as possible.

en I'm honored that people thought so highly of me. I guess it didn't end the way I liked. It definitely started the way I wanted.

en [There was the Arkansas Klansman Thom Robb, for example, who couldn't quite figure out where he fit in.] He wanted to give the Klan an image makeover, by banning the robes and the hoods and the 'N word' -- as he always called it ... and hatred in general, ... even though his members were always sidling up to him and whispering, 'Uh, Thom, we kind of joined the Klan because we wanted to hate people.'

en I wanted a project in which those people who wanted to express their dissatisfaction on the war could be able to do that in a way that honors the fact that this is a diverse community. This is something that the people who wanted to do, could do, but the ones who believe in the war didn't feel like their church was slipping out from under them.

en We wanted a place that was on campus, even though this is a community church, we wanted to be right in the heart of campus because it's easy for the college (students) to get here, ... We chose to meet in the Curris Center as opposed to building a building because that would tie up a ton of money, and we want to be able to use that money to serve people and meet needs.
