en I tease her all the time because she'll need to take an afternoon off here and there to sing at someone's funeral. I told her when I die, she better sing at mine. She's really good - she'll move you to tears.

en We have to play the sounds the audience hears. It has to be easy to decipher. And it seems like a simple concept, but it's so important. Not playing live really hurts the image of electronic music. It bugs us when people don't put any thought into their live performances.

en There are a lot of references to fornication in that song, ... There is nothing we're afraid to sing about or say in a song, as long as it's kind of clever or wink, wink, tongue-in-cheek. It just helps to paint that picture and tell the story better. If you're going to cover everything and hide behind metaphors, you're not doing a decent job telling the story.

en I just always have to keep it simple in it's melodies. And make sure it's fun for people to sing. Because that's important, too. And I make sure everyone can find something to enjoy in their part. Just so that singers love to sing it and it's nice to listen to.

en It says the right things. When we do the song live, people stand up and sing along by the first chorus.

en He nailed it when he said a good song makes people think, move and feel. That's what we try to do with every song we write and record. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. If people are doing all three of those things, then we did our job. Making music is not a one-dimensional thing.

en [Joe's] always said, as sort of a mantra, that he wants to make people laugh and cry, and not necessarily in that order. [To] make people feel and have a catharsis experience. I really think he wants to just move people with the story he's trying to tell, and it seems like it's working.
