en I think we're all in this thing together, and everything starts at the top with Coach Gibbs. He gets up and talks to us about how important character is, not only as a football player, but as a person. He's a great example, a great role model for all of us and we're real fortunate to have him.

en It was tough getting used to, but communication is so much more vital playing at the collegiate level. In that nature, I'm more of a quiet person so the biggest adjustment was being vocal; and keeping everyone intact and going to the right spots and keeping them involved, focused, and ready to play is the point guard's job.

en I would do it all over again. If I would change anything, I would have become more involved sooner. Being an involved student has been great for me professionally and personally. Without being involved, I would not be the person I am today. I've had the opportunity to meet a number of great people. Some have become very close friends of mine. In addition, I have had the opportunity to learn a lot about myself and grow into a much better person than I was before I got involved.

or that – tough! You signed the contract you've got to participate. Do
your best, be a role model. Be an emissary for the sport that you love,
the passion that you love. Show other kids why boxing is a great sport,
give it that positive image. And just be the man. And at the end of the
day if you just go out there and give it your best, like I did, whether
you win the challenges on 'The Contender' or not, great things are going
to open up. I'm the proof of that. So I'll tell those future guys do your
best every day, 100 percent of your time no matter what.


en You guys need to know that I will be here 24 hours a day for you to talk to. If I see you in the hall, the first thing I ask you may not be about football. It might be, how's your girlfriend, how's the family, are you keeping up with your grades? The ability to be a good role model is what helped make my decision to return to Orangeburg.

en The way she handles her life outside of basketball, the way she keeps herself in shape and has a clean lifestyle, she's very much a role model to these young ladies. She's always got a bubbly personality. She's always upbeat. She's a tough person in and around the basket. She's always competing. I'm just glad that she's there with us. en He's a great mentor, a good role model. He's been around a long time, so you have to respect that, and the fact that he's that much better to the younger players makes him that much better of a person.
