When we have an event like Katrina, everybody starts thinking about it.

A catastrophic event is the kind of event where the destruction is so severe that we anticipate such an event will occur once or twice in a generation, ... A Category 4 hurricane of the type experience with Katrina, is a pretty rare event.

The Michigan numbers stink, but it?s behind us. ..they (investors) are responding to the President?s speech last night. They see Katrina as a terrible event, but people are already thinking about the business that it?s going to stimulate.

Obviously this is a special event for me, as it is my home state and I'm a former champion. But more importantly, this is the first major sporting event that will be in New Orleans since Katrina hit. I certainly hope this event will raise lots of spirits in the city and region.

I think it's obvious, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we are faced with some formidable challenges. It's difficult to go forward when you are ejected from your home venue. ... Had Hurricane Katrina not come through here, the Rita storm would be really the event of the decade and the event that we're all talking about.

My first year when stuff like this happened it might mess things up. But these days, whenever the race starts, it starts. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. It doesn't really change our outlook on the event.

The breakdown in communications in the Katrina event was not an interoperability event.

It's not a pleasant feeling by any means. Last year it was tough just to try to get up for games, to get any kind of motivation going. But if you keep thinking about it and thinking about it, it starts to get to you, and that's a bad thing. You just have to keep your mind focused on your job and what you have to do to help your team win. Eventually, we'll get one.

Originally, I was thinking of this event as a shameless publicity stunt' and as an opportunity to bring some attention to the amputee kids in Cambodia with whom I work, ... Now there is a possibility that the event will end up in the black and actually finance some arms and legs.

What does that prove for later on? Probably not much, because now the event really starts.
