He has got a great enthusiasm for the game and I think that can only rub off on the rest of the players.

The greatest thing is the players' spirits are unbelievable. You can tell they're anxious to get back. They missed the game, they love the game. That makes it great for a coach when you have that enthusiasm on the ice.

We have been blessed with great tradition - established by having a great University, great coaches and great players. It was a great experience and great for our players. It was loud the entire time, even when nothing was happening in the game. After the game our players came out and sat with them, joked around and signed autographs. Everyone who worked to put it together did a great job.

He's got great ability and great talent. But the best part of his game is he's a great competitor, has great enthusiasm and he plays to exhaustion.

I think the players wear really in the game because of that (loss) in their preparation. My assistant coach ran practice Friday and he said they were just primed. They had a real enthusiasm for the game.

He has great enthusiasm, great intensity, great passion and a love for the game. He's another guy who jumps out at you. You wonder where he's going to be in three, five, eight years, kind of like Thomas.

If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. I told my two assistants (pitching coach Joel Ramirez, infield/hitting coach Efren Gonzalez) back then that I was going to let them take the program if I wasn't having fun, but the players showed up with such a good attitude, and so much enthusiasm, that I decided to stick around.
